*sigh* I'm feeling down. I lost 11 lbs on my pre op diet and I had lost 14 lbs since surgery. Yay, right? I know! But once I introduced more food-like smooshy foods I actually gained weight. Only 2 lbs so far but it still sucks. I've read that around week 3 lots of people's weight loss changes as their body adjusts. I am trying to keep an open, optimistic outlook but it's hard. I can tell my body is changing. I can see my waist is smaller and my inner thighs and that I have ankles again. But I also am feeling guilty (I think it's guilt) because its hard to get in all my Protein, all my Water, all my Vitamins, and eat smushy foods. Some days I've done good and met my Drs/NUTs minimum of 60 grams of Protein and 38-42oz of Water. But I know they'd like to see me have more of each every day. So I feel like that and the fact that I've tried things I shouldn't (crab meat, over cooked broccoli and carrots in Soup I didn't puree, scrambled eggs, and some spoonfuls of a sweet sugar filled whipped choc mint pie) makes this all my fault and I'm a miserable failure. And I've been walking and taking the stairs but I've only done a handful of sweat inducing cardio workouts since surgery. My husband is telling me that it's only been a couple of weeks, ease up on myself, and that my body is adjusting. I just don't know how to feel. :(

I am having the same issue. I think it's normal that you have a stall now. Ask yourself. Are you eating as much as you were before surgery ? Have you cut back on physical activity? The answer to both of those is probably no. If not, then it is physically impossible to maintain a weight you were maintaining before eating a only a fraction of what you ate before. Give it time. This is designed to work. Just be patient!

I ate candy, popcorn, a tiny piece of bread. I've chewed gum. We r human. Don't beat yourself up. Just try to do better next time and if you mess up try not to overdo it. I've lost 19 pounds since surgery and the last week....nothing! I'm not stressing. It will come off.

I think that you stick to the course. It hasn't been 3 weeks for me and the weight isn't coming off as it did before. I start soft foods next week and I am ready. I don't quite get in everything I should but I try. Remember keep your head up and stay the course, you can do it and when you're ready exercise a little. It's a lifestyle change. We all have different reasons to have surgery, mine was I wanted to see my children graduate and get married something my father couldn't do because he died young. I hold into that everyday as my primary goal to continue with what I started almost 5 weeks ago. It's a challenge that I won't fail myself this time. Stay positive it will happen.

Same here. I am SO glad we are all having the same issues so I know it's normal. I only lost four pounds pre op and 19 lbs post op. gained a few ounces since I've started consuming other foods. I'm keeping up with everything I put in my mouth on my fitness pal. It is kinda discouraging because we are so scared to fail. I haven't lost anything since my first week of surgery although I am seeing a loss of inches. We sound JUST alike. My husband also tells me to chill it's only been a few weeks and I stay under 800 cals a day.

I am 3 weeks 5 days out and hungry a lot as well. I take Prevacid and gas x and it helps some. I stay around 800 cals a day too

I'm a lil over 600 cals a day. I'm trying to do more eating of Protein rather than drinking. I'm ok to be on soft foods (including soft meats) now. I find that I burp up eggs each and every time I eat some. I feel full after 2.5 ounces drpending on the consistency of the food.

But what really got me lately is that when I eat something really flavorful (even if its on my ok list) I feel guilty. Is anyone else in that weird head space?

I threw up for the first time last night. All has been going well, so I thought I could eat 1 slice of pizza. I was wrong. It wasn't like normal with the stomach contractions. It was just like...nope this food should be here. It's coming back up!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
