The downside?

My &*^%$^%&(* body functions normally again.

How do you girls handing having a period EVERY MONTH??

What a PITA.

I liked it better when I only had them quarterly.... but then, I suppose this irritation is offset by being able to walk without pain and fitting into all my clothes.

*sigh*

This is the only time I EVER have penis envy.

:]

My mother practically raised us kids on thrift store clothing. A little hint - drive to the upscale part of your city and check out the Goodwill and re-sell retail clothing stores. You will be delighted to find designer clothing (sometimes with the tags still on them) for next to nothing. I have dressed myself pretty well as I have grown the opposite way (from skinny to fat) and I plan to continue doing it again...only in reverse.

Cheers to you winning "losers" for getting to buy skinny clothes again. I can't wait to join you!

My mother calls the thrift store "the boutique". It gives these wonderful bargains a little extra cachet.

Yep, same here.... I am still pretty early on this ride, but even with the 27 pounds that I have lost most of my clothes are looking pretty bad. I call my dress slacks for work my "clown pants" now!

I am lucky though, I saw an old friend the other day, turns out she had the RNY surgery in April and has lost 120 pounds and had TONS of clothes from size 30 where she started to size 16, the size she just got too small for. I am down to a 22 now, so she gave me everything she had from a 22 down! So I now have a variety of dress clothes that I will be good in for a while!

Do not stay in your "big" clothes, you need to be able to see your progress as you loose weight! Just get a couple of outfits from Goodwill or a local consignment shop... So you have something that fits where you are now....

Good luck

I have lost 35 pounds and now can wear somewhat smaller clothes. I get really nice clothes on eBay. I like Leslie Fay clothes and have gotten some really nice stuff online. I also go to Goody's since our thrift stores don't have the stuff I need to wear to school. I'm so thrilled because I got some size 14 stretchy jeans at Goody's and they stretch out so that they are loose! I have gone from size 20 to size 18 blouses and they fit wonderfully. I highly recommend eBay for clothes. I have gotten some VERY expensive clothes pretty cheap on eBay. I got a Pendleton jacket for $32 and several nice Leslie Fay outfits for under $25. I have no problem wearing other people's clothes. Now I just hope I can get even thinner so I can shop some more on eBay.

i finally got sick of the comments from my team ... "gee, i can fit in there with you" (went from 6x to 3x right now) ... plus i broke my closet and had to clean it out anyway. it is now in a bag ready to either be sold or given away.

now all i need to do is buy a few things ... hopefully a resale shop will do some trading with me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
