I was sleeved Feb 14th and I had had mirena for about 3 years and never had any issues with it. Since being sleeved I have been having a dark bloody discharge. Its not a lot b ut always there when I wipe. Anyone else had this issue with mirena that has been a long time prior to surgery? If so how long before it went away?

I have mirena and I haven't had those issues, I did get a mild bladder infection a few weeks after surgery, but nothing else really. Maybe it's just your body doing an abnormal menstrual cycle after surgery.

It might be from any blood thinners you were given in te hospital. Did you have injections in your abdomen? (Heparin or Lovenox)....

I had the same issue after surgery. But I was on depo shot. Had a period for 12 days finally had to have a D&C done to have it clear up. Call your obgyn is its too long. Mine got worse as the days went by.

Our fat cells are full of hormones when u start losing they let go of the hormones causing all kinds of womanly issues. But they will get better.

I did not get any blood thinners when I was conscious anyway lol

And I have never had issues before with it so that is why I was surprised.

Thank you all for your input

Yeah I noticed mine as soon as I got to use the bathroom aftdr surgery. And its more of a brownish color the whole time. Maybe I will wait it out a little longer and if its not gone I will call obgyn. I will definitely be asking my surgeon at follzow appointment next week

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
