Help! 18 days out and need answers

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 2/1/13 in Mexico by Dr Q. I felt pretty good until a few days ago, where I started to become really sore. I chalked it up to Muscle Tears as when I layed down with a heating pad I felt better. Last night I tried Apple Sauce for the first time and I got the slimies! That was scary but it went away pretty quickly. I woke up this morning to get ready to go on a business trip and I started drinking Water. After a few sips, I threw up. My husband is really freaking out and I am cancelling my trip :( Why after 18 days would Water make me throw up? Could it be dehydration?

Any advice would be great

Not sure. I experienced that on day 2... I felt much better after it though. Drink a little Pickle Juice. It should help with the slimed. As for the vomit: had you thrown up before? Was it all slimy(sorry graphic)? I was told that they encouraged you to cough up all the mucous stored in your belly. It helped prevent pneumonia. But that's early on, not two weeks in. Do you have aftercare established? You might want to inquire, just to be safe. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
