Rubydoobie 12 Posted February 18, 2013 Will be meeting with surgeon next week about possible surgery. Want to find those of you who are bipolar who have had this surgery. Do you have any difficulty taking your meds after surgery? In general I would like to hear any/all experiences. I need to lose about 100 lbs - part of the weight gain can be attributed to my depression & medications. Will the bipolar medications I must take prevent me from losing weight after sleeve surgery? My bipolar is stable/controlled but it is imperative that I take my medications regularly 4xday.
Zen 29 Posted February 18, 2013 My sister has bipolar 2 and takes a lot of meds. Her Dr and pharmacist were very helpful in determining what pills and how. Some meds can be made available in liquid form and others can be cut. She had some that could not be cut because of time release. Overall I think she managed it well. Your health professionals should be able to help you figure this out and after surgery your nurses should have in your chart what you take and when. She brought her meds with her to the hospital not sure if that was related to cost or? Good luck and good for you!
Melissa1234 69 Posted February 18, 2013 I have bipolar 2 and am on my six month preop diet. I would love to know the answers to your questions as well. My meds caused me to gain weight and I worry it'll hinder my weight loss after the sleeve.
