I guess that depends on what you mean. If you mean for insurance that is individual to your specific plan and it is defined in the documents. For example, mine was over 40 BMI or 35 with one comorbidity on a list of items. If you do a BMI calculator they will tell you your range and category. "Overweight', "Obese I, II, etc."

Here's a chart, for the wonderful BMI scale that's heavily flawed when it comes to actually predicting overweight people. /end rant.

If you calculate your excess body fat and measure your loss as a percentage excess body fat lost, you will find that the vast majority of us lose at about the same rate.

The reason low BMI sleevers lose slower is because they have less to lose.

Hehehe..

Yeah I was being funny with the 98:p

But as far as losing faster when starting off with a higher bmi? From my reading around this forum (and yes it's been a lot) I would say yes..

I started at a 40 Bmi seems to be middle of the road around here I say that because originally I thought 40 was low but now I realize a lot of people with 38 and lower are having it done.

I was sleeved on 11-13-12 and have lost 46 pounds.

Another person In my November group has lost over 100 pounds!!

That person weighed almost 200 pounds more than me in November

I think that is correct, I was 450lbs ( bmi=67 ) on 1/28 the day of my surgery. As of 2/15 I was down to 416lbs (bmi=61.4) That's a loss of 34lbs in 18days...... I know I won't lose like this forever but I am enjoying it while I can........ My goal weight is 220-200lbs

Do you happen to know about what that rate is? I am really curious.

It's been a while since I actually ran the numbers, but 20-25% @ two months post op, 40-50% @ six months, 70-80% @ one year.

That's the numbers that seem to be most prevalent.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
