Indiana Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Are you seeing Dr. Ditslear? Or is there another surgeon at IU that does the VSG? If so who is your surgeon and what is your impression of them? I am currently looking for a surgeon so any info is helpful :)

I'm seeing Dr.Inman. From what I've been told she has been doing sleeves longer than anyone else in Indiana.

@bag4ahealthierme. I am going through IU as well. My surgeon is Dr. Evanson. He's a great Dr. and highly skilled.

I'm so glad to hear from you. I was beginning to think no one went to her. Was your experience good...like the hospital and the procedure? 80 pounds is fabulous..how much are you trying to lose? I'm looking at 100....I hope I can do it...it all seems so complicated? What about your hair...still have it? Sorry for the 20 questions.

I had a wonderful experience!! Everyone at the bariatric center is great, I felt very prepared going into surgery. My hospital stays was good too. I was only there one night. My surgery took 45 min and then I was in my room. They make you get up every 2 hours to walk the unit ;). I plan on losing 100, the doc says I can loose a little more. My hair is falling out, not bad but I notice it more than anyone else. I take Biotin and it seems to help.

20 more questions....how did you feel...like we're you sore..did u vomit. 45 minutes is pretty fast. I got insurance approval today..I'm well on my way now.

They said next the surgeons office will call to set up pre opt testing....what is all that?

I was sore and very tired after surgery. Getting up and moving around once I got home was hard, because all I wanted to do was sleep.

I never got sick, thankfully. I followed all the post op instructions to a T!!

Pre op testing is when you go to the hospital for about 3 hours. You have tons of lab work drawn, EkG, chest X-ray, upper GI, and you meet with a preop nurse.

I know I had tons of questions when I started, so let me know what other ones you have. :)

Hi all I'm from northeast Indiana. I'm still preop but doing everything through Team Bariatrics in Goshen. The staff is awesome! I meet with the NP and NUT monthly. I have my psych eval this coming week. I will meet with the surgeon in June and in July they will file with insurance. I started my process in Feb.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
