Something about having a open incision at home doesn't thrill me! Lol

Oh mine had its own incisions. And they were tiny little holes. Scabbed over and gone in 3 days after I removed the tubing.

LOL, yeah it freaks my husband out to think bout it to this day, but its really not bad at all. His we had to gently tug on to get out and he just felt it to be too weird. Really it doesn't hurt and if anything its more of an odd sensation. The holes are just tiny and heal quickly. You'll forget they were there and you'll just notice only your laparoscopic incisions. Good luck!!!

I had the pre op class at IU today. I found out there will be 2 days of a clear liquid diet. Why haven't I heard about the pain ball before? Not sure how I feel about removing it at home of I'm sent home with it!

Did you meet with their internist physician during your testing day?

Yes I met with a Dr but I'm not exactly sure what his title is. He basically told me all my tests look good and gave me a prescription for 3 days worth of my blood pressure medicine without the Water pill added in.

Ok sleevers, I had surgery the 22nd. I am doing great. But I can't drink Water even flavored water. The artificial sweeteners irritate me. Anyone have any suggestions of what I can drink?

Have you tried Powerade zero or G2? I had to survive on those mixed half & half with Water for a while. Plain water felt like it was sticking, Mio/Crystal lights gave me toilet troubles. :/ But I found if I put even a couple ounces of gatorade in there, it helped. Also, green tea, iced or hot. Have you ever had those Lipton Diet Green Iced Teas? Don't know what artificial sweeteners they have, or if those would irritate you as well. Very, very important to get fluids in, keep testing!

Try all different temps. A lot if people on here have had issues with cold water. Warm or room temp works better for them. I also used a lot of G2 and Decaf tea in the first few weeks.

Cold drinks were hard for me. I either drank room temp or warm drinks. I drank mostly water and G2. Just keep doing small sips at a time. The first week is usually the hardest.

I have my pre opt testing tomorrow and surgery on June 7 th. I have to take a stress test at the cardiologist. Does anyone know what that entails or is it hard or terrible.

I'm a little nervous about it. Did you do it on a treadmill or by an injection that makes your heart speed up?

Fellow Carmel St. Vincent Sleever's... It has been almost 2 weeks since I received the insurance approval confirmation from the Surgeons office, but I have yet to receive my letter with my pre-op scheduling. How long did it take for you to hear back? I am trying not to be impatient, but I was hoping to hear by now.

Newme- I understand how you feel...there is a lot of waiting. I received my pre-op testing letter about 1.5 weeks after they received the approval letter from the ins. That was about 2 weeks after I received verbal approval from the ins company. What day did you receive ur approval? With the holiday yesterday maybe that slowed everything a little. I have my final pre-op appt on Monday the 3rd so wondering how long it will be for a date.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
