I was revised from lap band to sleeve on the 12th so I'm 6 days post op been having a hard time getting in liquids at times I feel a weird sensation when sipping liquids not painful just a sensation that's new to me almost like a cramp I guess. with the lapband I was hungry right away and struggled with the stages of food I haven't started to feel hungry until today infact my mom has literally been forcing fluids on me I'm only getting about half of the required fluids that I need don't feel too weak considering im still sore and recovering been a couple times I thought to myself why did I do this and then I snap out of it because I know this was the best decision for me is there anyone else out there having a hard time and if so what did u do to make it better? And at 6 days what are u eating ?

I was sleeved on the 5th. For postop I was on Clear Liquids until my first post op visit the following week. During that time I sipped my liquids using a 1oz medicine cup. I had to keep track and maintain 6 1oz cups per hour. This was easy. After my post op visit I am now on full liquids. Creamed Soups (strained) broths, sugar free Jello and sugar free pudding and 1-2 Protein shakes/day. Next week I will start puréed. I think if you use the med cups to prevent you from gulping too much at once. This might be easier. Good luck to you!

I had the same problem and called my Drs office a lot the first 2 weeks. You're doing great. Listen to your body the surgery you had was stressful and your body will tell you more than you can imagine. I was so worried about meeting my Protein requirements and getting enough Fluid it drove me crazy. It took me hours and hours to finish a bottle of Water alone. My dr said to keep sipping and if I needed a change to get some sugar free Popsicles and suck on those. It probably sounds dumb, but the Popsicles were life and sanity saving.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
