Hi!

I am a newbie and first time to get on the board. I am almost finished with my paperwork and then I hit a bump in the road. My EKG test came back abnormal. I saw my cardiologist last Fri and he said they are often wrong but I have to go for a stress echo test. I guess I am supposed to run on a treadmill but I couldn't run to save my life. I am worried about this as I have never had a stress test before. I am worried about the test and what they could find. I really hope all is ok as I really want to have this surgery. I am so ready and don't want any delays. I am hoping to have surgery in April. Did anyone else have to do a stress test?

I had a little blip on mine too. The stress test is truly not a big deal but does take some time to get through since they do pics over time. Once they saw the stress test results, i was cleared for that piece. To hopefully make you feel better, i will also tell you that i had to do followup testing from the chest exray as well and then from the ct scan which resulted in me having to get my thyroid removed. You just have to be ready to power through every obstacle thrown in front of you and stay the course. Good luck and keep us posted.

Most people having WLS are going to have blips, bumps and bruises along the way. We are literally killing ourselves pre-op, so don't be discouraged. Go through all of these tests and be compliant with all of their instructions. You are getting so close to a healthier you!

Karen, the stress test is no biggie. I had to have one last April. I thought I would die on tbe treadmill but you wont and you dont run you walk. The just hook you up to some monitors to make sure your heart handles it. They increase the speed and make it go up hill a little but its totally doable. I was moderatly out of breath. Not bad at all. They also take a lot of xrays of your heart thru a machine. I put mine off for two yrs cuz i was scared. I had to get mine cuz i had heart palpitations and had to wear a holter monitor before but its not a bad test at all its just time consu ming it takes a few hours. I took the whole day off but i couldve gone back to work cuz my sweat was very light.

Everything will be okay and prob like my results your ticker will be in tip top shape.

Had my stress test last week, wasn't too bad. I did mine on no sleep since I worked the night before. Mine was done on a bike, the hardest part was being hooked up through a machine that doesn't let you breathe out of your nose for me. I was a bit out of breath afterwards, but you're supposed to be. The person doing the test said I flew through the recommended settings so she kept it going to see how far I could go before I reached failure. I told her if I hadn't had done a huge leg workout a day before this, I would have kicked the tests ass, it's all good. No biggie, just another hurdle to overcome. I psyched myself up for it, like every other test I've had to do so far, and in the end, it hasn't been worth the stress.

Thanks for your comments. I am so glad it is not so bad. I am really going to try not to worry about the stress test. It is just one more thing I have to do to finish my paperwork. I will be so glad when it is done. It will all be worth it soon.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
