I am from the Island but live in Chicago now. dr Alan Geiss s a great surgeon and he did my Lap Band 10 years ago. Although I want this band the heck out of me, I still believe he is the best on Long Island.

Dr Vorha for me too. Sleeve done on 10/23/12. Almost 4 months ago. Down 50 pounds, a slow looser but not one post op complication! Feeling good.

Yes I had one drain which was removed the morning of discharge. It was a bit uncomfortable while it was in. When it was pulled out it did not hurt it just felt weird.

Hi - Good Luck tomorrow! I'm sure you will do GREAT! I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Gadaletta and the practice so I'm sure Dr. Gellman is great as well. I"m about 3 weeks out and doing pretty good. I've lost almost 30 pounds and really have had no other complications (except gas pain the beginning.) I am getting sick of just liquids - but it is all part of process. Let me know how everything goes!

Dr Vohra is my surgeon too. My surgery was 11/20 and I haven't had any complications at all. As of today I'm 61 pounds down.

Hi I'm five days post op and feeling great last night I slept without pain meds aside from the discomfort of incision and drain I am doing GREAT! Dr. Gellman is awesome took 2 hours for my surgery the worst thing for me was the gas pain in the left shoulder OmG that was killer but to be honest only lasted a few minutes nurses came in and medicated me then I started walking and it dissapeared. I love Charmaine and the nutrionist did you meet with them before leaving the hospital? They gave me this neat pillow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
