No game 14,437 Posted February 18, 2013 Think I'm going to try Milk of Magnesia first. But thank you. Yeah that a good idea when I say that to some people here its because they are at the point of being impacted..
Fiddleman 4,376 Posted February 18, 2013 Think I'm going to try Milk of Magnesia first. But thank you. Oh, that stuff is truly nasty to take. Only use it as a last ditch effort. Suppositories help immediately and don't leave your mouth feeling like an outhouse.
Butlersh 213 Posted February 18, 2013 I recently just went thru an 11 day bout of this. The hierarchy my doc suggested was the following. Do each as needed. So if 1. Didn't work, move to 2, etc. 1. One dose of milk of magnesia 2. Add Miralax up to twice a day 3. Fleets enema with the miralax 4. Magnesium citrate, followed by 8 oz Water with the miralax. I also tried suppositories, fruit juice, prunes, Probiotics, flax. After I finally went, I'm taking chia seeds and miralax Dailey to try and prevent it from happening again. JeffA70 200 Posted February 18, 2013 If I have another child, he or she will be named Milk of Magnesia.

sleever10 109 Posted February 18, 2013 I thought my problem was solved with Fiber gummies and it isn't. I bought some FiberOne and that is working. The high level of insoluble fiber it has really seems to help me. I hope it works long term.

Congrats on finding something that works for you. I know it can be a challenge. FiberOne is a good choice. Do you get it in the Cereal or the bars?

Fiddleman 4,376 Posted February 18, 2013 I get the cereal. It has 60 calories a serving and I mix it in with my Greek yogurt. Great! I love that fiber one cereal alone or mixed with other things ( have not had any since surgery, but will any day now). It has a good flavor and helps really well with the going issue. 57% DV fiber and low calorie. Yeah!
sleever10 109 Posted February 18, 2013 Yeah' date=' not sure why fiber gummies do not help that much. [/quote'] I wonder if it is because the fiber is soluble? I read that soluble fiber adds bulk and slows motility whereas insoluble fiber doesn't add bulk, doesn't cause gas/bloating, and speeds motility. Thoughts?
