Help! Today is my first day of pre op diet. Holy cow, this is going to be a loooooong 2 weeks! I'm not loving the Protein Shakes I bought (Muscle Milk). Wondering what others have gotten that they've liked and where they bought them. Thanks for any and all help!

Since I live overseas and don't have access to costco, I have ordered all of my shakes and Soups from Diet Direct online. I am using the BariWise brand. All of the shakes, clear broths and cream soups have 15 grams of Protein per serving. It's free shipping over $49 and you also accumulate that come off your next order. I plan on using these pre op and post op.

I like the GNC Total Lean pre-made shakes in chocolate and vanilla. I used to like the strawberry, but they're too sweet now =\

Thank you! Sounds like the one at costco is good. I will go to GNC and Costco and try both these recommendations. I really appreciate it!

I plan to use Unjury, my hubby loves it, ESP the chocolate splendor, he puts a scoop in the bullet w/ice and his milk and it makes a nice shake. He is a kidney pt and needs the Protein, so we' ll be doing well together making these shakes. I also have ordered the chicken broth from unjury as well.

I really like the Pure Protein ready made shakes in the frosty chocolate flavor. Walmart has them in the 23 grams of protein and Trader Joes in the 35 grams!

I am doing Optifast but its super expensive. I attend a group every month and they all suggest Lean Body from anyplace like GNC or even Amazon. Whats great is you can get a powder if you need to travel post - op

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
