Hello, I'm VQ, I had the sleeve surgery just before Thanksgiving in November 2012. The first month was hell! It's still he'll now but I have gotten used to it. When I first realized I was fat. I started looking for ways to lose weight. I tried everything. I was a bit successful but the truth is I love to eat. I didn't care if it was killing me. Being a big guy for most of my adult life had some benefits. I didn't realize I would lose so much weight. Now I'm skinny. I really don't like it much. When people see me for the first time, I immediately look at their reaction and it's wierd. I realized that I have lost the weight but my self confidence as well. I really want to eat. I also want the weight loss To stop.

I guess my first questions would be why do you think your to skinny now and what benefits of being a big guy did you lose?

I was sleeved around the same time by the way!

I was sleeved in the same time frame. I'd be interested in knowing where you started and where you are now. You can manage your weight, just like you managed your weight loss. Are you seeing a nutritionist? Typically they have a plan for your maintenance if you are close to your goal weight.

Why not try to substitute being overweight with bulking up? As much as I'd rather not say it, if you want to sabotage around your sleeve, you *can* do it. Personally, though, I'd rather go for putting on muscle as opposed to fat.

You need a nutritionist and maybe a therapist to kinda figure things out with you. There should be so many more open doors for you now that you are not a "big guy" anymore. I don't know much of your life but it sounds like you are a little depressed. Therapy and maybe some meds can help that. Good Luck--feel better soon.

why do you feel that you being skinny now is a bad thing? most of us here strive to be "skinny". I havent been heavy all my life.. started after having kids..and I too didnt care because I loved food and I loved eating it too. but being big.. people stare.. or refer to you as the big girl. and then the kids that say why are you so fat? I dont see how that can be a good thing.. what advantages of being big could there possibly be? I couldnt name one other that not being cold cuz I was well insulated. are you married or dating or what? Have a support system? Im sorry you feel the way that you do.. but first step in the right direction is to come here and get some answers.. I would like to understand why you feel like you do. you prolly look amazing now.

Definitely start pumping Iron and downing the Protein shakes!

You can now build muscle opposed to useless fat.

It's a win/win

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
