Anyone have a hiatal hernia/sleeve repair surgery?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had a hiatal hernia , acid reflux surgery and sleeve repair post sleeve?

Painwise, this has been worse than the orginal sleeve but I now have some relief from the relux. It was so bad that I had pneamonia 5 times since being sleever 9/11, my throat and nose were raw from the acid 'fumes' and I haven't vomitted since the surgery this past tuesday 2/12.

Until I woke up I didn't know I was going to lose my gall bladder or had a hiatel hernia! Glad that it all got taken care of at once. In a bit more pain than I would've been I'm sure.

Mary are you able to drink much? I am really struggling. I think if they wouldn't have fixed my hernia I would be able to get some nutrition. I can only drink a quarter of my supplement and I'm worried about being dehydrated :(

I am only drinking a little at a time, no way I am at 64 ounces, I am only drinking the proasis Protein since it is only 2.9 ounces and 25 grams protein, drinking 3 a day, till friday then saturday going to try the costco shakes, I am worried about barfing them up though, plus they are twice the amount. i am using a 2 ounce shot glass as a guide for my Vitamin Water, I know I can drink 1 whole one at a time without any pain, they I wait about 10 minutes and do another but I forget to drink.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
