Oh I've been totally emo - in fact, here's my emo post from the 10th

http://www.verticals...-whinewhatever/

I was lucky, though, my surgeon let me go home from the hospital on puree which i have to stay on for a month, and I didn't have drains. I can't imagine going though the clear liquid AND drains while having the 'why did i do this' depression. "Hang in there" lady! :)

KatiKati,

I am here to tell you it will get better, but you will be up and down the whole time. I was sleeved on December 17 th. I spend 5 days in the hospital in TJ, had to have a blood transfusion, and came home with the drain tube for 20 days. I still have a huge blood clot on the right side of my abdomen which makes me not able to really work out. To top it all off my husband went off on me three weeks ago in front of my entire family that I selfishly left my family and risked my life to have this surgery and after 14 years left me and our 3 kids. On the bright side, I have lost 30 pounds that I never would have lost without the sleeve. So I really am here to tell you things could be worse and they do get better. Keep your chin up and breathe. Keep coming to this wonderful place for support from people who get it. Stay strong. Angie

Mine was fairly routine.. but some of the same things you are going thru.. I sure didnt want to eat or drink.. and yes I was tired all the time.. slept off and on all day long.. I was extremely emotional.. but at that point I was told my son had been killed.. so I dont know if a lot of that was because of that..and some of it omg what have I done sort of response is all but gone now. .. but now Im 8 weeks out and all the worries and troubles I was experiencing have gotten lots better... and even a couple of weeks ago.. still not wanting to eat much cuz I was scared of weight gain.. but figured out thanks to my hubby that if I was eating the protein.. the weight would for sure come off..and he was right.. has it been easy.. no not by any means.. but I think the new journey that we are all on is a great one..timely yes.. but in the end.. omg the results are going to be fabulous.. a new you.. healthy and beautiful.. right now we are all like in our cocoons..and soon.. we will break out and be beautiful butterflies. this is a great site to come to for support.. there are a lot of us out there..and sometimes we need each other to lean on and help us thru rough spots.. and thats we are here for.. I have a great support system in my hubby he was sleeved 1 week after I was. He has been wonderful and so have my co-workers at both my jobs.. I still get emotional but for I think more for my son.. but Im better today than I have been.. I was never on meds or anything.. just being over weight was my issue . cant wait to get a new wardrobe LOL.. and not need a belt extension when I fly.. but by all means vent.. it helps.. and best of luck on your new journey.. join Us.. :))

Pretty op here you read your post...let it all ou girl. I am not scared of what you are feeling. Between all the drama, you are safe and sound. I didn't hear a single complication in your whole post. I kind of felt that way when I was post op lap band but it faded into memory fast. I am due for one massive or 2 massive surgeries to take care of my failed LapBand. If I can ever get to the point where you are today, I know it will be all better in the future. You will do great and get out your stress so you can move past it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
