I am so lucky. There are some foods we keep around here as staples for the little guy (who has a feeding disorder). Cheetos, Cheeze its, M&M's, Oreo's, gad almost anything bad for you LOL And I really don't like them. I could easily have eaten my weight in Wheat thins prior to surgery (I have to really work at 8 now LOL) but never a cheeze it :P

Crackers are one of my "old foods" that I still can't get away from.

So now I keep Goldfish crackers and 34 degree crackers.

So lets change the topic a bit ~ what whole grains do you eat to make sure you are getting enough Fiber?

I couldn't eat enough to have room for more than a bite or two of any grains for probably six months post op. And all grains except crackers and well-toasted bread did not sit well till around then. Colace was my friend. I had to use it occasionally to keep things moving. I also eat veggies and fresh fruits, but early out I couldn't eat enough of them to really add any Fiber. Just getting the Protein in kept me pretty full back then.

Now that I'm further out and my capacity and tolerance have increased, I enjoy eating whole grain crackers, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, brown rice, and whole wheat Pasta. I also like sweet potatoes and butternut squash, which I believe also have a lot of fiber. I rarely need Colace these days.

I am 3 1/2 months out and can really eat anything. Crackers aren't my thing and they fill me too fast. I have been having 1/2 of a mini whole wheat pita. If I toast it I may have part of it with baba ganoush, hummus, or something as a snack, I love it for my sandwich. Makes me feel like I'm eating normal. And I always use baby spinach instead of lettuce.

Not sure if this got off track or not. I used to love Dr Krackers. I had forgotten about them, they've got seeds in them. They're dry so you only may be able to eat 1 or 2 of the small ones

Good luck

At one point, saltine crackers were the only thing I could keep down after surgery.

I've tried wheat thins and triscuits. They are ok but could only very, very small amount.

The worst thing ever. Girl Scout Cookies for sale outside my local market! I had to use the other entrance, or there could have been major trouble. Thin Mints. Need I say more. I avoided the enemy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
