Competition Readiness - Beach Body 2007

Hey there Telly Girl!

I finally got banded on the 9th. Recovering and eventually I will be back in the gym. My work-outs wont be as stringent as yours, but I do plan on doing weight training 3x's a week and cardio 3-5 a week. I started at 278 in Jan, now I am unofficially down to 230. I plan to be at my personal goal of 175 by mar-may, which is gonna take a lot of working out. So... as usual, I will be looking at your posts for my motivation, but I plan on kicking some butt too (my own) in the near future!

Good luck in your regimen!

Wow, Telly! Are you ever an inspiration. You know, I remember going to an aerobics class once (I could just barely keep up) and I remember there was a woman at the front of the class with the nicest, toned back I had ever seen-I could tell she weight-trained. Anyhow, she was what kept me going at that class as I too wanted to have a back like that. Now I know this can come true after being banded! I can already feel I am on my way.

Oops, sorry for going on!!

Enjoy your training, Telly! Very exciting!

Cheers.

Kat.

Thank you Katgirl and Keeka!

I finished a 2 hour training today and prior to training I had my fat%, BMI and weight checked out and I was pleasantly surprised.

I jumped on the scale fully clothed to include my infamous hoodie jacket and sneakers. I weighed 140lbs exactly. I jumped on and off 3 times to make sure it was right. It was digital and I am very skeptical about those. So yeah, 100lbs gone in 7 months. I am 5lbs from goal of 135lbs.

My Stats were:

BMI - 24.8% from 42.5% so down 17.7% Yay!

My Body Fat% 25.06% from 38%, waist is 29.75

From going to Mexico alone to be banded, to losing 30%+ of my hair, to dropping off weight like a mad person I could say I've put myself through extreme craziness. If I had to do it all again, I would. No regrets and no complaints.

Telly, you are rockin! You are such an inspiration! I am so ready to get back to the gym and get to pumping some weights. I go to the doctor tomorrow to have my weigh in and be submitted for insurance approval.

I was doing the BFL program, but kinda gave up on it. I'm ready to get back in gear. I would love to be able to compete some day in womens body building/fitness.

I am soooo impressed with you, words cannot even describe how much ahhhh I have for your progress. 100 pounds in 7 months, and you actually eat more than most bandsters, but the key is, you exercise. Not just exercise, you work your A$$ off in the gym (no pun intended). So you prove that exercise is a key element in succeeding with the band.

You've got me convinced for sure!

Sunshine thank you for pointing out that the key to successful weightloss and physical fitness is exercise. It is what it is. There are no shortcuts and no way around it.

I am not professing to be a know-it-all about weightloss and living with the band, but I figured out how to lose the weight consistently, so I share it.

I have seen a few people on here lose most of their weight with just cutting back and better food choices which I find admirable. I also read that most of the same people complain that cutting out or carving out bad foods is not enough. At some point in this game, they've found out that they have to do something extra, something more because diet alone has stopped working for them.

Being stuck at at the same weight for a month or so can be frustrating. Especially for those who have not changed their diet and have been eating the same things for months, the same foods and amounts of food that has allowed them to lose weight previously. Some people are boggled about it. When they finally troubleshoot and put exercise into play, they realize that putting in 3 days per week at the gym or hitting the pavement was exactly what they needed to get over that plateau and to start losing again. It's not just to get over the plateu of course, but really...exercise coupled with good food choices and controlled food portions IS THE KEY TO WEIGHTLOSS AND GOOD PHYSICAL HEALTH. It's a fact.

I'm so glad you know this. I'm sure everyone knows this but the best truth is the visual truth.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
