boymom2 17 Posted February 15, 2013 Ok, I'm sure there are about 100+ topics out there on this. I'm on day 1 of Clear liquids before my surgery on 2/22. I have never had Protein shakes before and the one I had today made me gag every sip. I need to hear your recommendations on some great recipes or brands. Again, I'm on the pre op clear liquid diet, so no fruit combinations. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks All

UTGal99 327 Posted February 15, 2013 Ok, I am going to give it to you straight: Yes, most of the bariatric Protein drinks are TERRIBLE! But I assure you I have found the one that tastes great! If you have a Sam's Club and/or costco in your town, head over there. They have Premier Protein shakes in chocolate and vanilla. They are truly amazing! They taste great! 12 premixed shakes for $18.88 at Sam's Club I promise you and many others on this forum will tell you the same - they do not disappoint. http://www.amazon.com/Premier-Protein-High-Shake-Chocolate/dp/B00796NFHS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360964613&sr=8-1&keywords=premier+protein+shake Good Luck and let me know what you think! Chaparra 85 Posted February 15, 2013 I really liked the Atkins shakes, but they don't have enough Protein in them. I've also done Ensure and Pure Protein. Both are good, or at least as good as it's going to get. LOL
Hleeann 7 Posted February 15, 2013 I like the pure Protein Shakes. 23 grams of Protein and only 6 carbs.
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted February 15, 2013 I drink and really like the EAS high Protein and carb control shakes. strawberry and choc Carmel are my fav. You can get them at Walmart and most drug stores or grocery stores. Make sure you don't do the muscle building becaus wit has too many carbs. These are pre made in small drink boxes. During the week I don't have a convenient place to make shakes so I go the easy route

TheGamer 406 Posted February 15, 2013 Check the massive shake thread for recipes once you find a brand of shake that doesn't make you gag. I think I went through a dozen different kinds before I settled on one.
kittenkate 186 Posted February 15, 2013 I make my own using some recipes from Eggface's blog. I couldn't stand any of the premade shakes and believe me when I say I tried them all. Am I allowed to have these shakes on the post op liquid diet....even with all the fruit blended in? Sorry, it may be a dumb question....I just really want to follow the rules to a T. My dr. Office was closed and now I can't find out before Monday. Also, can I drink Zero Vitamin Water? It's not on the list....but it's see through and sugar free
Emilee68 46 Posted February 16, 2013 I'm on my preop diet too. Surgery is 2/26. I hate them ALL except the Premier Protein from costco. These are pretty good compared to the other ones. Only kind that hasn't made me gag yet. I'm heading there tomorrow to get some cases!!
sue8925 17 Posted February 16, 2013 You can have vit Water. I have tried so many protien powder. I like twin labs the best. Muscle milk is ok but I love the twin labs. Taste like chocolate milk. You can order indivual packets form vita coast
woman in me 307 Posted February 16, 2013 I like the premier brand also. But my absolute favorite is Total Lean from GNC. I actually love and enjoy them. I prefer vanilla and strawberry over chocolate which is strange because I prefer chocolate ice cream. I'm weird.
