Just wondering how long it takes to be able to sleep on my side again? My back and butt are starting to ache!!! I've read some people's comments about sleeping on their sides with a pillow, but is that too risky? I was sleeved on the 12th (few days ago). Any advice?

4th night for right side and another 3 or 4 for left. Lay a pillow up against you and roll tummy barely onto it but more up against it to hold your stomach snugged up against it. Left is still only good for a few hours but sure better than my back. Good luck!

Before I left the hospital I was sick of being on R side and back. I used a pillow on my R side partially under back to prop me up and then another pillow over by L side to help protect it. At a week post op I can even lay on my stomach, not fully for a night but for a little bit at a time and tilted more to my right side. I have a huge exercise ball and can even go on it on my stomach as long as I continue to support body with my hands as well.

Like moregoodtimes, I barrel roll that pillow! Lol. I had my sleeve on the 11th and started side sleeping on the 13th. I also put a pillow between my legs because A) it feels lovely and B) it seems to take more strain off my belly.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
