First of all I think a call to your Dr. will not hurt anyone, and is likely a good idea.

My guess, and that's all it would be at this point, is that for some reason you have some swelling. You may have eaten something that was a little harder to pass through, and caused your stomach to swell. Swelling will act just like a new fill, it reduces the passage way. Until you hear from your Dr. I would stick to thin liquids, and try some Aloe Vera juice, several here swear by it's soothing properties. The problem in continuing to try to "eat" is setting up a swelling pattern, which can lead to further complications. Eat, PB, swell....Eat PB, swell.....it is better to let it calm down and begin again with liquid to mushies, and then on to food again, once the stomach has settled down.

Hormone fluctuation also causes different levels of tightness in the band...so you might take that into consideration.

Let us know what the Dr. has to say.

Good Luck, hope you feel better soon!

Kat

Can you handle food better in the evenings? I swell over the smallest thing. The last swelling was from chicken hanging up. You would think we would learn to quit trying to eat some of the things that hang up. I would suggest switch to liquids until evening and then try something soft to start with and then test a little. Some of our stomachs are just super sensitive.

Let us know how it goes. If you are in real pain please call the doc. My doc says you will know when you have a slip and will seek care for the reflux type pain. I just have a feeling that you do not have a slip but rather have an inflammed stomach lining with associated swelling.

:notagree My stepdaughter is a nurse and does shift work, mostly nights at the

hospital and she has never been able to eat much during the daytime.

Normally, she will be sleeping during the day and getting up around 3 - 4 pm to go to work..........so her time to eat is between 8 pm - 1 a.m.???

Its like daytime is mornings for her? She has been this way since she got her band almost a year ago?

So the shift work could be confusing your band and its kind of like lot of us that are more restricted in the morning and can eat more later in the day.

:hungry: ........

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
