How does your tongue look? Do a Google search on Thrush. Does it look like that? How are your taste buds? I know you are probably on liquids, but have you noticed anything different?

I had a back surgery last month, was intubated and ended up with thrush. Throat and mouth were KILLING ME. Did a week of an anti-fungal prescription and was all good.

I had thyroid surgery a few years ago and they did the same thing to me. It hurt way worse than the surgical site. I couldn't even talk for days. I had to ask for pain medicine with hand signals. I think it lasted about a week, getting better every day. I know how much that hurts. Ask the doctor if there is some lidocaine spray or something they can spray in there to deaden the pain.

I was sleeved Tuesday and just came home today and my throat is sore too. I'm sure it is from the tube and dry mouth/throat.

The throat pain was intense for me those first few days too, especially while my mouth was also dry. It felt like sandpaper. The thing that helped the most and gave me a lot of relief was the sugar-free popsicles the hospital provided. Can't recommend it enough. Hope it feels better soon!

I had no throat pain at all just runny stools few days which worried me. Only 9 days out I feel normal apart from not needing loads of food to satisfy.

My throat hurt for about 6 days. Real sore fore the first 3 and then just a little bothersome.

My throat didn't hurt at all, but they warned it would, because of the breathing tube. From what I understand the pain is related to how sensitive you are and how easy/hard the tube went in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
