Which Dr Garcia?

Recommended Posts

I've been researching the lower cost doctors in Tijuana. I've come to a point where I don't know if I'm going to go with Fernando Garcia or Ismael Cabrera Garcia.

Any thoughts?

I am going with Dr. Fernando Garcia. I decided on him because he had such good reviews from people on here. I have not found one negative comment about him. I also really like his coordinator, Alma. She is so nice and helpful. I also liked the idea that his deposit was refundable. I am using my tax return for the surgery and I was worried I would not get it in time for my date. Alma assured me that I could change my date with no problem and cancel it if need be and get my money back.

Nice. I will have my surgery too with DR. Fernando Garcia. My friend had hers on 12/17/2012 starting weight 225lbs, and now as of today she is at 177lbs. She is encouraging me to have my surgery asap. She told me she was not in an ounce of pain like the people here talk about. Mind you shes gone through 2 child births, though. I have not had any surgery in my life other than dental work done "doesn't count". I am scared but at the same time I am sick and tired of feeling and being fat! I have lost once in 2009 63 lbs with JENNY CRAIG AND I Couldn't loose anything more i wouldn't go under 187lbs! and now I have gained almost all my weight back.

I too had Dr Fernando Garcia and couldn't be happier. He is an amazingly skilled surgeon, I had no gas pains, no pain, walked right after surgery. He has also performed over 4000 surgeries, talk about experienced!! Good Luck

In my opinion, I would go with Dr. Fernando Garcia. I personally haven't read much on the other Garcia, but I've seen tons of good reviews on Fernando Garcia. :) good luck to you whichever one you decide to go with!

I went to Fernando Garcia April the 27, 2012 and have nothing but great reviews about this man and his staff, especially Alma. She is so sweet and answers all your questions and walks you through everything. I'd recommend him to anyone. I also have to agree with the post above me about pain. I had none! Just soreness, but i hear about so many others experiencing it.

My cousin had her sleeve done in TX just 2wks ago and was in severe pain to the point of tears. Maybe the surgeon wasn't gentle enough, I'm not sure. But Dr. Garcia is the man!

I started at 330lbs day of surgery and almost 10 months later I'm 197.2 lbs. He helped me to regain my life and made everything smooth and easy.

Team Fernando all the way!!

I am going to dr. Cabrera. I love love love his coordinator christy. She has made me feel so comfortable. Also doctor cabrera doesn't do as many surgeries in one day like some of the other doctors, I definatly like that. Good luck!

After even more research I am still going with Fernando Garcia. I spoke with Alma today, she was most helpful in answering my questions. I am going to schedule sometime mid April, as soon as I can confirm time away from work. I am very excited! This is the ultimate solution to my lifelong battle with weight.

Hi Everyone,

I am getting sleeved by Dr Cabrera Garcia. Christy is amazing!

Anyone else get the procedure done by him? Thoughts? Has anyone travelled alone to do this? A bit nervous, but hopefully it will pass.

My surgery date is May 20th at MI.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
