4.5 months and concerned

Recommended Posts

4.5 months post op and concerned the pounds will stop falling off. Doc thinks I might be falling behind the curve too. All the charts show a drastic slow down in months 5,6,7... I'd like to be in onderland by June, but that could be optimistic. If things stay the way they are now, I'll get there, but not if the fat loss slows down. The last three months I've lost 12-13 pounds consistently, so I'm upping my workouts and keeping my calories at or below 900 per day. Thoughts or insights?

I don't have any real insight other than to say that my weight loss started slowing down around the 4-5 month mark as well. When I evaluated it a little more, I noticed that my portion sizes were a good bit larger than at the 2-3 month mark, so I was eating more and getting in more calories. My Dr told me that the sleeve learns to "accommodate more food", not stretch, and he thinks mine started doing it a little sooner than the average sleever. I also noticed a little that I was getting stronger in the gym and was putting on muscle. And since my belt size was actually still getting a little smaller, I figured I had put on some muscle and had also lost some fat, which doesn't allow the scale to move down as much, but it's still a good thing. I'm not sure if this is anything similar to your case, just thought I would share.

You have lost 124 pounds! That's a cheerleader! Don't expect it to come off fast...just that it comes off. I was happy at anywhere between a 4-10 pound drop in a month...and you are doing double digits. Stop beating yourself up...and have fun with life!

Aroundhky,

I can definately accomodate larger portions than at months 2-3 post op and as a result I've been counting calories and protien to maximise my loss. My strengh is comming back and my cardio is the best its ever been! Overall, I am happy with my results so far and I want to keep loosing!

Sounds like your surgery has already been a success and with 124 pounds lost, that's a whole small person (gymnast, jockey or similar build).....so it seems you're doing really well!
