toylitpapr 50 Posted February 14, 2013 So my surgery was on Monday the 11th. Worked out most of the gas they pumped in during the hospital stay. I am now home and it seems every time I drink something whether it be Water or broth or Carnation Instant Breakfast... So much gas tends to build up. It either comes out in pockets up my esophagus or rumbles and churns in my tummy and builds up to the point my insides feel tender almost painful. Is this normal? I am sipping very very very slowly. Absolutely no gulping. No straws or chewing gum or carbonation. I really hope this isn't how it's going to be for the rest of my life. I've been lactose intolerant for most of my life and the feeling is very similar to drinking milk for me. Help! I do plan to discuss this with my doctor but just wondering if anyone has experienced the same.
SMO 193 Posted February 14, 2013 I was sleeved 2/4/13. For the first week, I felt like I was swallowing air with every sip. I tried various ways of sipping but every time a big bubble of air would seem to go down first. I spent more time burping that week than I can remember doing the whole rest of my life. When I started being able to take more normal sized swallows of liquid, it mostly abated.
