Fish is good. Check the resturant online to review the menu before you go.

Honestly, you're not going to be able to eat much... Soup or soft fish or maybe chilli try taking a look at the appetizers.< /p>

When I went out prior to being cleared for all foods I ordered a crab cake or shrimp cocktail. Baked or broiled fish is always a very good choice. It you're going for Italian, have a meatball.

I'm 21 months post-op and I still can't eat a full meal from a resturant. You can go to any resturant you please but since you are 4 weeks post-op I would recommend the Soups, chowders (if you're not lactose intolerant), seafood (crab always went down nicely for me it soft) you can't go wrong with appetizers. Places like the "Cheesecake Factory" have the "Skinnylicious Menu" or the "Small Plates and Snacks" that are alot smaller plates then the rest of there menu you still will probably not be able to eat it all at this stage but it is cheaper and a lot less to take home.

I hope this helps. And Happy Valentine's Day to you enjoy your night!

Soup is good if you take some unflavored Protein Powder and mix it in, so that you get some calories with your Protein. Really soft grilled fish, or even a hamburger (no bun) if it's a place with fancy burgers. Then you can eat small bites and have it again for 2-3 more meals! Beef stew is soft. Omelets could work. What are the restaurants near you? Maybe we can make better suggestions if we know! Have a wonderful evening!

I agree with the Soup and mashed potato suggestions and might add refried Beans.

I tend to order off the appetizer menus because one can often find the Protein part of a "meal" without the sides we don't have space to eat anyway. And the sides are things like fries, Pasta, rice that just take up space an offer almost no nutritional value.

What about sharing an entree or ordering a few appetizers instead of dinner pates so it's not as obvious to anyone else that you're only eating a little and your companion is eating most of the food?

When I go out with my husband I always just eat off of his plate. We usually go to Mexican food places so I will eat some of his Beans and a tortilla. We went to Pei Wei last night and I had a few pieces of his chicken and some snap peas. I found that when I ordered something for myself and tried to take it home I would always eat too much of it. It is really great because we are saving a ton of money now. Remember that you can also order from the kids menu but it is usually too much food and not a very healthy option. Happy Valentines Day to you all!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
