Itsme! 98 Posted February 14, 2013 Has anyone who has not had a primary care provider (only seeing the surgeon and following the pre-op guidelines) gotten approved? I'm almost done with the pre-op requirements but I'm wondering if I should go find a PCP who is willing to recommend surgery as well. If rather not if there's a chance I will get approved without. Find out from your surgical coordinator what your insurance requires. It's a longshot, but you may not need anything from a PCP.
Sadtosaygoodbye 256 Posted February 14, 2013 I have a PPO plan which means I don't have to consult my PCP for anything. If you have an H M O plan, you usually have to have a PCP referral for most things. You can find this information out quickly, by calling your customer service number on the back of your card. I still have not told my PCP about my procedure yet, hope this helps.
