So disappointed in myself!

oklafarmgal,

I wasn't strictly by the book when it came to my pre-op diet. Don't let it get you down. We all experience setbacks. It's what you do afterwards that counts. Tomorrow is another chance to start over.

I know it will. I don't know what came over me, but I just had to have something. I guess I'm pathetic. Lol....

There are different diets. I can have 2 Protein shakes and a can of hardy Soup at night ....

Okay I have been thinking about this because I also use the sugar free carnation instant Breakfast on my plan. One package is 5 grams of Protein which adds up to 20 grams a day. I don't think calorie wise or protein wise you are getting enough. If you mixed it with skim milk you would get 52 grams of protein. Is there any reason you can't use skim milk instead of Water. I think if you were getting more protein you would feel better about the diet. Not that you should go against what your doctor told you but I would double check.

My doc allows fruit, cream of wheat, veggies, broth, low fat crackers, but no meat of any kind and no whole milk products or sweets...so you see the diets really do vary

Dean for the record it was just a couple of bites not the whole can of tomatoes! Don't make the poor thing take on more shame than necessary!

You going to be disappointed of me because I ate 6 days out of 8. I realize that I'm a food addict. I thought that I was over weight becuase my pcos. I'm mad at myself because before I eat I would tell myself is ok. Is only a littel bit but eat a whole plate of rice Beans and pork shop. And drink a lot of Water. Having the sugar free yello, pudding and good Protein drinks and clear low sodium Soup. I just keep think could something go wrong on the surgery help please. My surgery is 02/15

I am fortunate that my doctor is not having me do any pre-op diet. I think that I will do a bunch of Protein Shakes just for the fact that I gained 4 pounds since my last weigh in. My final weigh in is on Feb 19, with a surgery date of Feb. 25. Just nothing to eat or drink after midnight the day of surgery. Not too bad for me, except I have to be at the hospital at 8.30 and surgery isn't slated until 11.30 and you have to walk past the Tim Hortons Bake Shop in the hospital to get there. Ohhh, the smell is intoxicating.

Wow that's a hard one! The doctors put you on the pre op diet for lots of reasons. Doctors will even put different patients on different diets depending on health issues....

My best advice is that you call and tell the doctor because your surgery is only 2 days away!

He knows best whether you will be ok or not

Good luck to you! And do call tomorrow! You don't want the surgeon to open you up and then not do the surgery because of the liver or anything else.

Thank you Laura for conferring me. I will call tomorrow I promise. I spoke to him yesterday he told me I could eat but not to much. But I feel like I gave up on my self.I know I'm not allowed to be eating but everything looks good to me like if this was the last time I was going to eat.

Good! Let me know what he has to say!

I think a lot, if not most of us, have serious food addictions. It's what brings us to having this surgery.

It's really important to have someone to talk about this with. I talk to a therapist because I eat for many reasons, not just hunger!

Having this surgery makes you not as hungry.. but it doesn't change your head and how you

Feel about or Comfort your self with food.< /p>

That is something that is very important to work on too.

when people gain weight after a year or two with this surgery is because they never "dealt" with the reasons they eat...

I hope my rambling made sense :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
