Wish I was where you all are. sniff, sniff. I am still in the dreaming stage. LOL Unless insurance comes through this week I will have to wait until my actual date in April. Can we say anxious lady here? I have to admit however, that I am not looking forward to the liquid diet portion, but I know it is a must. can't wait to follow y'all's transformations.

Hey everyone!! I'm there with ya! I started my pre op yesterday...so today is day 2 for me...I can say that today has been MUCH better than yesterday. I was off yesterday, and it was rainy out so that might have made it harder, today I've had work as a distraction and haven't felt those hunger pains as much today! If it continues like today, I'll be okay!! If its more like yesterday I might lose friends from being grumpy ;) hang in there girls, we got this!!!!

I guess I cheated a little, I have been waiting for my insurance approval and grew impatient. I called the insurance and this very nice girl told me everything was there and it was on the desk of who needed to finalize it. Yahoo! I think! Lol! She also told me that the doctor was putting me on a liquid diet also, something my doctor wouldn't tell me without insurance approval. So I figured start it now and get ahead of the game.!! Lol!!! What is the worst that can happen, I lose weight and am ready when they approve, besides the starving part I guess! Lol!!! Hang in there all we are ALL in the together!! Good Luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
