Dental work while in MX

Recommended Posts

Hey guys... Heading to Mexico March 22 to be sleeved with Garcia and understand there is a dentist... Anyone used these services and if so, is it a good/clean place to go, is the work good, is it that much less expensive and what type of things did you have done?!

Thanks

I would really not recommend getting dental work in Mexico. I am a dentist and I may be partial but I have seen really poor work from Mexico. Good luck with your surgery!!!

I've gone to Dental Bernal in Los Algodones four times, beginning in 2006. Among the extractions, crowns, root canal, sinus boost, I also have six implants.

No problems with any of the work.

The only people I've ever heard say anything negative about dental work in Mexico are Americans who've never gone or American dentists (except for MY American dentist).

The trick is to get references.

I wrote a journal (30 pages) during my first trip. If you want a copy, PM me or send an email to my yahoo address.

Best wishes,

SuzanneFromSeattle

I've been to Mexico many times for dental work. Depending on what you are having done you can save between 50-75% compared to American dentists. Do your research, and check their reviews. Chances are since you are having it arranged by a coordinator, you'll be paying more than locals will, but you will still save a lot.

Do NOT use the dentist at Mi Hospital... Was a huge mistake, thought it was convenient.. Was barbaric.. and came home to spend a ton to fix it!!

YIKES! So sorry for that experience! But thanks for the information. Will definitely be steering clear of that one!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
