Eventually. It will burst on its own.

Sometimes, laying a hotttt rag on it will bring it a head where you can more easily bust it or it may burst on its own from the heat.

It feels like a big cyst

I call them boils. Not sure what the proper medical term would be. However, if it gets worse and doesn't burst on its own, you will have to go see a physician and he will put a pin in it.

I used to get these often in moist areas such as the inner thigh...I am fighting one right now...I would go sooner rather than later to see the dr...if it has been there more than a few days and is painful, I wouldn't wait around for it to drain on its own...you definitely don't want to get a serious infection, and the most frequent type of infections with boils is a staph infection...I just would not recommend self-treatment with a large and painful boil

Could it be a cyst?

I would go see your doc as a precautionary. Mrsa (a form of staph) comes in the appearance of boils, and it very contagious. It is not uncommon for people to pick it up from the hospital. My hospital actually made me take 2 showers before I went in for surgery as a precautionary. It is very easily treated with ointment.

Easy solution... you will need a knife, hot flame, some rubbing alcohol and something to bite down on.

Just kidding... like someone else already mentioned you can put a hot cloth or warm Water pad on the boil/cyst. It should develop some type of white head sooner and will pop. dont force it to pop. If you are in pain for more then a couple days and if does not pop go see your doctor.

My best friend get boils constantly, her inner thighs & underarms are completely scarred from having so many. She usually just applies warm rags or there is a medication called boil ease that sometimes helps her.

its something with your blood, that is what the doctor told my nephew anyway he gets them like three a month. he has to have them cut and they drain. if it is still the same size in a copy of day go to the doctors.

I used to get these. They are awful! Once you have one it is hot rag and wait it out time. You can help prevent them, I have not had one in over a year, by scrubbing the areas you usually get them with a loofah and, believe it or not, Summer's Eve "body" wash. It works because the wash helps to keep around the good bacteria, that you need to heal the boil and prevent new ones. They also make a powder that I apply to keep dry, also prevention. Like others have said, if this one does not go away in a couple of days go see the Dr.

Hope you feel better soon!

My first thought was MRSA (staph) as a buddy of mine had a boil on his chest that landed him in the hospital clinging for life. If it's not better or at least starting to get better by today (two days after you initially posted) then I'd definitely go to a dermatologist and have them look at it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
