I could have sworn Dr. Aceves told me I could begin lightly working out when I got back home. So, yesterday morning, I went to the gym and did the elliptical trainer for 20 minutes on the lowest level (I am 7 days post op). Today, I feel like crap - super tired, no energy, etc. I happen to peruse the post op info I was given, and it says to wait until at least 4 weeks post op before exercising!!! I know I was a bit loopy down in Mexico when I spoke with Dr. Aceves about this, so I must have heard him wrong - have I totally screwed myself up? I'm worried that I've put myself at high risk for a leak. Any help appreciated.

Are you throwing up, in pain or running a fever? If so , call your Doctor ASAP if not, your probably fine. But if your really concerned you should call your Doctor. Your body is healing, and needs to rest. Walking the first week is probably all the exercise you need, Wait six weeks for anything strenuous.

My doctor told me that I can go back to excersing as soon as I feel good enough to do it. He said to just not overdue it and I should be fine. I was concerned about when I can go back to the gym because I don't want to get out of the habit of going. My discharge papers said to wait also, but I'm going to listen to my doctor and how my body tolerates it.
