LeeLeeLosing 21 Posted February 13, 2013 Hi everyone. I had my surgery last March 19 and am fast approaching my one year surgiversary. I have lost 70 pounds and I definitely feel so much better. However, the past few months I have seen my ability to eat increase to almost twice what I could previously do. I find myself reaching for the same foods that got me to 300 pounds. My brain knows better, but those old habits are coming back full force. It seemed like the first 6 months for the first time ever my life did not revolve around food and I was free. Those overwhelming urges for food were gone. But now I feel them again. My appetite is back. It does not help that food is the language of love in my family. I thought my new smaller stomach would help me to have just a little with them but now I feel like I am slowly losing my grip. I know what I need to do, but mainly I am just wondering if any if you have gone through this too? What helped you get control back? I am having such extreme anxiety about being a failure. My dr wanted me down at least 100 pounds by my 1 year checkup, and I am not going to make that but I am not ready to give up, thus this post to all of you. I would appreciate any responses. Thanks in advance.
ISleevedIt 380 Posted February 13, 2013 Hi...sorry to hear your having a hard time, but 70 pounds is great! I totally understand how you're feeling about food. It is one of my worries that I will slip. This is why I hope a smaller stomach will help stop me from binging as I do now. Try reaching for something healthy instead. I know it's hard. Have you added any exercise in your daily routine? If not try that. I wear my pedometer everyday and do my best to get in 10,000 steps a day. Many times I get in over 12,000. There are days, like this past week where I was working 10-13 hour days that I was not able to get the steps in, but I'm back to it now. Good luck!
FatMamaw 7 Posted February 14, 2013 I heard you can get you pouch to shrink again, if you go back on Protein Shakes only for three days . I read it somewhere on one of these websites. I don't have my surgery till Monday, but I've been reading everything I can get my hands on.
LeeLeeLosing 21 Posted February 14, 2013 Justsleeveit- I have been walking but not consistently enough. I need to work on that for sure. I feel like so much of the success of this surgery is based on an ability to plan ahead and that has never been my strong suit. Flying by the seat of your pants just doesnt work well when you are managing the sleeve. Fatmawmaw- I wonder if that is for the bypass or the sleeve. I am all for liquids if it will help me get my restriction back. Thank you so much for your tip. Good luck on your surgery!!!
