I don't want to scare anyone but today I was in the worst pain of my life, it was worse than when I was in labor with my son :( I think it was the dry heaves that hurt me the most. All day long, nothing but pain. My poor husband, I was so mean to him. BUT something good happened... I told them the morphine wasn't working and they got me an order for Fentanyl and Toradol and I am feeling wonderful! It's after midnight right now and I finally felt well enough to get up and walk around the unit 4 times!! Oh and here's something I found odd - my surgeon gave me 2 pictures of my new stomach.

So tomorrow is my big day ( I have to be there by 5 AM' date=' surgery is scheduled for 7:30) and to put it mildly : I'm scared!! I can't even think about it or I start to cry. Is this even remotely normal?? Shouldn't I be jumping for joy? Oh my, it's going to be a long night...[/quote']

As my surgeon told me yesterday if I'm not worry or scar he be worried. So you doing good. Congrats on your special day. Keep us post.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
