When can we have Peanut Butter? ?

This question is best answered by your doctor or nutritionist. All doctors have their own program of what you can and can't eat. However, keep in mind that Peanut Butter is very high and fat so keep that in mind once you have the OK to have some. One item you may want to consider, if on a stage where you are drinking shakes try PB2. This is an ingredient to add to shakes with ALL of the FAT removed. It's in powerder form. Adding it to a chocolate shake tastes just like a reese's peanut butter cup. Enjoy!

I used a little Peanut Butter blended into a Protein Shake while I was on pureeds, didn't have any problems, but I don't think it would be good to have straight peanut butter till released to whole foods. Best bet is always to ask your dr or nut since they seem to have varying policies on everything. Good Luck.

I didn't eat Peanut Butter till I was at goal. It's very calorie-dense and doesn't offer much in nutritional value, in my opinion.

Now that I am at goal, it's a treat food. I like it on graham crackers. Sometimes I put cut up banana on top.

I was having some (creamy, not crunchy) the first week as it is an easily digested soft Protein, so it should work well for whenever your doc permits soft Proteins (and arguably purees.) I dropped if fairly soon thereafter in favor of denser proteins as I could tolerate them due to its high caloric content and didn't have it much until maintenance.

This is something to take up with your NUT, because every office handles this differently. I am not allowed Peanut Butter but my NUT is totally on board with PB2. Like others have mentioned it is powdered peanut butter. It has 85% less calories & fat than regular peanut butter. You can mix it with a small amount of Water to use it like peanut butter. It is great mixed with shakes. My favorite way to use it is in plain, fat-free greek yogurt. I mix 6 oz of the greek yogurt with 1 packet of Truvia & 2 tbsp of PB2. Very delicious!

Mmm, sounds good. I'm gonna have to try it with my next yogurt.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
