Patient of Dr. Deol in Michigan

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm Allison. I am new to this site so forgive for me not knowing where to start. Well, here I go. I am a patient of Dr. Deol in Michigan. I am scheduled for surgery in a few days. I did about 2 years worth of research on lap band, not only in Michigan, but elsewhere in the country. I came to the conclusion that Dr. Deol was one of the most, if not THE most, qualified surgeon in this area, and probably in the country. When i met her for the first time about 6 months ago, i fell in love with her. She is truely honest, EXTREMELY EXREMELY thorough and doesn't take chances. I cannot emphasize how thorough she is. She is very kind and informative. She answered all my questions and then some. I know, from a few friends that i have in her hospital that she is very selective and does not operate on patients who will not commit to the process. But that explains why her patients are very successful in their weight loss venture. in any event, i am truely pleased and look forward to my surgery. I will keep everyone updated. thanks again.

Hi. thanks for the reply and your support. This site is awsome. I guess they call Dr. Deol's patient's "Dr. Deol's Girls." So i guess I am also a member of her fanclub now. I am going into this with the outmost confidence in Dr. Deol. Thanks God and Thank God for Dr. Deol. Wish me luck girls.

My boyfriend is being banded November 20th. Being his support person through all this, I met with Dr. Deol in her office last week. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with her. I had two pages of questions for her and she answered every single one of them very honestly and thoroughly. She took her time and made sure all our questions were answered and didn't rush through it. I am extremely confident that she will do an excellent job taking his life into her hands.

I'm glad you posted, Alison. I'm over near Flint and have looked at Dr. Deol's website a few times. I'm JUST getting into this and haven't even really started the process yet (have to wait til Monday to even call my insurance company and make sure they cover it), but when I start looking around for a surgeon, I'll definitely talk to her! :xena_banana:

Hi Dr. Deol's Girls. Sorry for the late reply. I had changed computers and had forgotten my password. So, I am back. The surgery went "PERFECT." Dr. Deol was fantastic. Made me feel so so so very comfortable. She is so compassionate, you can tell she truely cares. Got a Teddy Bear from her after the surgery too. So sweet. The surgery itself was very smooth. They had to use a bigger band on me called the vanguard. i am doing well. I have lost a few pounds already. Dr. Deol emphasises that i have to be dedicated to her program, which i think i am. I have already quit smoking (she wouldn't do the surgery unless I did) which in itself is a blessing. I couldn't be happier. I feel like, for the first time in my life, I have control over something. Thanks for everybody's support. I will continue posting. BTW, how do you post the ticker?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
