Skinnypie 66 Posted February 12, 2013 So, I just got the okay from my dr to start swimming and today was my first time at the gym to do this. I've never swam laps before & wondering how I should put this into MFP, there are two options one says light, moderate effort and the other says fast, vigorous effort.... While I certainly wasn't going "fast" it sure as heck wasn't a moderate effort on my part, I only didnit for about 20 minutes & my arms were burning so... I guess my question is, is the moderate/vigorous calorie count based on a "general" ability or my own abilities? Cause if I compare to the other swimmers that were there, I was going super slow, but for myself, I was working hard! Below is a screenshot of the options in MyFitPal
lexi710 8 Posted February 12, 2013 I underestimate on mfp. I think the burned calories are a little high. Who are you on mfp? I'm lesslexi if you'd like to add
cyncitygirl 100 Posted February 13, 2013 I swim often and I have been I confused too. I consider it for my own effort. If I was working hard than that is MY vigorous so I put it. Lol. 20min is a good workout because its 3x the workout on land thanks to water's resistance.
