lessofmeismore 1,405 Posted March 1, 2013 I'm so happy for all of y'all brave enough to tackle running. When you're obese' date=' running can be one of the most daunting forms of exercise. But conquer that, and there will be nothing you can't do. BTW, here's what it's going to look like when you're done. [/quote'] I remember when we just started our journeys! Look at ya now!!! Woohoo great job!!!
SusieK710 130 Posted March 1, 2013 Thank for the information on form BB. If you have any other good resources for us beginners, I would so appreciate them. Great to have friends!
johnlatte 1,232 Posted March 2, 2013 My girls had track practice today...Its snowing like crazy...dropped them at the track and said what the hell if they can..I can, went and knocked out Week 2 Day 1. They are my inspiration, can't wait until we can all run a race together (albeit they will be much faster than their old man).
hadouni 301 Posted March 2, 2013 c25k, W5D3 done! Sort-of... The good news is I RAN OUTSIDE! The bad news is I wimped out after about 15 minutes and took a walk break to go up the hill of a street underpass and then walked another small incline. I did tack on an extra 3.5 .minutes in the cool down to make up the time but don't like that I couldn't push through. I used a city bike path and it was fine. I think I might be just as happy on the treadmill though. I might bed own another couple lbs too. I never trust the scale for just one day though... If its the same Monday I'll claim it! Happy running folks!

Butterthebean 8,146 Posted March 3, 2013 I ran 4.5 miles today outside...along the bay while watching these huge pelicans dive bomb the Water. The sun was shining and the breeze was blowing, it was so boring. How I wish I had a treadmill in my closet at home. <kidding>
carstanger 346 Posted March 3, 2013 Water aerobics with a friend on Monday, and my tread mill is on order. Too cold for me to walk outside as my asthma kicks in but that is improving and maybe the Michigan weather will warm up too!!! Soon???
deannagail 16 Posted March 3, 2013 I'm in!! 2 1/2 weeks post op.... Did Day 1 Week 1 on the treadmill; No incline and more of an airborne shuffle that a true jog... Gonna focus probably on Week 1 for a few weeks when my endurance has built and I am a little further out from surgery! I will say, I remembered how much I used to enjoy running today... Felt a little froggy putting the uniform on and heading into work! Keep up the hard work everyone!
d.myers 7 Posted March 3, 2013 How long did everyone wait post-op to start c25k? I am in a c25k program/group now pre-op and am debating on if I will be ok to join back 2 weeks post-op.
SusieK710 130 Posted March 3, 2013 Until you are able to get your daily Protein in, plus protein additional for running, you would be reducing muscle mass. Plus healing time from surgery, check with your doc. Most say walking is ok but nothing strenuous for 6 weeks. Good luck!
