Great job! I had mentioned to my husband how much I would like to run a 5k' date=' silly me... He happened to notice there is one here in Denver this next weekend, it is a mud/obstacle course. I am signing up. I found a couple friends that are doing it with me. I have let me knees rest and I think I will do fine! I'm So excited..a first for me and I know I'm ready![/quote']

That sounds like fun! I've always wanted to do one of those! Hope you have a great time!

Oh man. That sounds so cool! Did the run go through the haunted house at Disney? Being stimulated by all the cool visuals would definitely make the run fun.

It was in the forest behind the Disney ESPN Sports Center. Most of the Disney runs are through the parks though.

Don't know if this will upload or not, but I am so FREAKING excited!!! I just did a 5k, 8 weeks out!!!!

Yes it includes my 5 minute warm-up, yes I walked 5:44 part way through...but dang it I DID IT!!! Lol!!!!

(Run 1= 21:49, mid-walk=5:45, run 2=7:29)

I believe this averages to 4.65 mph

I ran farther than I ever have on this specific outdoor loop, dodging snow, ice, and standing Water (major snow storm this last week in Wyoming, lol)...

Thanks Gamergirl!! Man what a head game a lot of it was! But good music and beautiful scenery made it go by faster and was a great distraction.

My only issue was that my c25k app never told me when to start/stop. I only intended to run for 20 minutes for the week 6 interval, but I never heard the cues. I'm not really complaining because I did even better than the 20 minutes, but it was a bit frustrating.

So I feel horribly guilty and "unfaithful" posting this but it's actually not working out for me to do this with my son and my spouse. I keep waiting for them and they are on a diff schedule. When I want to get up and go, they're invariably in the middle of something else and we keep putting it off. Last few days, when I was awake and ready to go, my husband had just returned from walking the dog for a mile. Couldn't very well drag him out again. Alex had homework, dinner, bath, school, etc. it's been impossible.

Net result, I've made no progress. I have to take responsibility for myself and just do it on my own terms. Need to figure out how to tell them both nicely. It's not their fault.

So I've been doing the stationary bike almost daily, but I haven't progressed on c25k. Haven't given up though!

My wife and I both run....but we barely run together more than once a week. Our schedules just do not work together....and it's better that we be fit alone than fail to do it together. It actually works wonderfully because we are each others biggest cheerleaders, but we also get to enjoy the "alone" time.

Don't let them derail you! You can each run separate or they can run together. Arrange it so that it works for you. If they really want to run with you they need to honor your schedule. Keep your eye on your health. :)

I've had a couple of people say they want to run with me too, but back out. I decided that this journey, well it's mine and I can only control me. So, I run. I don't care if they go or don't, and I'm succeeding.

You can do this guys, I know it!

Grab some fast beat, fun music (even a little Elvis works) and your shoes. The only only one who will benefit/lose is you...let's do this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
