That is superb BTB. You continue to set a gold standard example for the level of fitness success one can achieve as a post op VSG. Your dedication to being the best you can be has been most admirable. Thanks for being a beacon of hope for so many. What will be your next race you will train for?

I read that as "bacon of hope"! :)

I know this is a little off topic but has anyone tried a fit bit?

I just got a Fitbit Flex a few weeks ago and I love it. It has motivated me to add extra steps every day.

That's cool. That's the one I was looking at but I haven't bought yet. Do you think it is pretty accurate?

I have the Fitbit One and love it too. It is much more accurate than a standard pedometer and gives you a lot more info than just steps.

It's really accurate for my running/walking route that I take, but not sure how accurate for normal activity. I use it more as a motivation tool to try to hit 10000 every day. I don't really care how far Im going as long as I'm moving more than I ever have during the day. If you need more accuracy, go with a Garmin or something like that.

How does the fit bit flex sync up with MFP?

I assume its the same as the One. It uses low-energy Bluetooth. It can sync via your phone or tablet, or a tiny USB dongle for your computer. Pretty seamless. It syncs to the Fitbit site and you give MFP permission to see the data from there, via an API. Then MFP compares what Fitbit thinks you burned with your activity in MFP and adjusts it, so there is no double counting. So if you ran while wearing the Fitbit but counted it in MFP separately, MFP would reduce your Fitbit calories so it all works out.

I just received the fit bit one for my birthday on Thursday. I've really liked it. It syncs right with mfp, also it is a clip instead of a Bracelet so I'm the only one that knows I'm wearing it. It comes with a sleep band and it tracks your sleep patterns, it is interesting. Oh and tracks floors, level changes, I never realized how many times I went up and down my stairs. I agree that it really makes me Strive to reach those 10000 steps and my goal for active minutes/calories burned. The app for fitbit is free, which many others are not. You can link it right to Mfp and it keeps track of calories in/out... Can you tell I am enjoying it?

Just to get back on track, I started c25k again, on w2d2, but in afraid I'm catching the stomach flu... So might be a few days before day 3, I've gotten to a 13 minute mile, which given last year I weighed 347..Not to shabby...

Back on track after taking about a week off for knee pain. Felt pretty good today doing W6D1. Took it really slow and wore my knee brace. No pain afterward. Also wore my new Adidas Springblades and felt like I was a lot less fatigued after running.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
