Recommended Posts

Just finished week 8 day 2. Had to really talk myself through this one. After I made it to the halfway mark I just felt like I couldn't go on. I just kept talking myself through, saying you can do it, run through just one more song. Then another, then another & finally I told myself run until the one min left then your done. When I hit the one minute warning I just kicked into high gear and finished. Today was very challenging but I did it!!

I enjoy reading the progress!! I can't run it because of knee replacement, but am walking faster and can do more things. Still dropping weight and closer to my goal of normal BMI and I can tell in my clothes so that makes me happy!!

Week 2 Day 1 is in the bag! I found it actually a little easier than last week, it's a little shorter. This makes me think that maybe Laura-Ven should try week 2 even though she is having trouble with week 1.

I took my running up to 7.5 kph (4.7 mph). Yes, it's SLOW!

Awesome job! Your not slow in my book. I'm still running at 4.0. I figured I would work on endurance then speed. I just finished my last day of week 8 so next week I will start working on increasing speed.

Congratulations on progression and keep up the good work!!

There is a app like the couch to 5k but has a zombie story to it. It is call Zombies, Run 5K. its a 8 week 5K app with a post zombie world. You are a runner for a town.

After you finish the 5k app there is a upgrade to it and its by the same people. It is called Zombies, Run. You are now a full time runner for the town and have to go out looking for supplies for the town,

Amy...it is getting hot. I live in Houston' date=' we have our share of hot and humid. But here's the thing. The heat isn't as bad as it seems. You have to hydrate a little more. You may have to run a little slower. But it's basically no different than training with any other resistance device...like running uphill for example. As you do it, you're conditioning yourself to run better in the heat. You're getting in even better shape than you would if you ran in mild spring weather. If you keep running, when the cool fall weather hits, you're going to be running so light and fast...you won't believe it.[/quote']

Sometimes things you read on here really make you think differently. This is such a simple attitude change, but boy did it work on my brain! I live near Tampa where it is hot and muggy even at 6am. I've always dreaded and in my head complained about the weather in the summer, but by changing my attitude towards it and looking at it as a training device really got me moving!

I just ran 6 miserable miles. I waited a bit late to get started. I've got a 10K this Saturday in San Antonio and I hope it goes better than today. Good news is I can go easy till then.

Been doing the last few runs inside on treadmill due to the heat. What modifications do I need to do so I can still run outside once it cools off? I'm on week 4 day 1. Thanks

Just to clarify. What settings/ treadmill modifications e.g. Incline, speed, etc will help replicate my run outside so I can switch back to outside later?

I've read that you need a 1.5-2% incline on the treadmill to simulate running outside on level ground.

W2D2 done! I ran at 8 kph (5 mph) and walked at 5 kph (3 mph). The first interval of the running was kind of hard, but it got easier after that. The most annoying thing is having to adjust the treadmill. I wish I could just program in the top and bottom speeds and toggle it.

I'd like to work my way up to 10 kph running by the end so I could actually do the 5k in half an hour.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
