Yep.. Just let your ticker do the work ;)

I'm proud of you though.. I do the treadmill but only at 3.5. A couple weeks ago I accidentally pushed 5 and saw my life flash in front of me. My heart rate probably double just from that mistake. Thank God for the quick stop!

Had a stand up paddleboarding lesson today. What a workout! My abs and arms are killing me! I really enjoyed it though. I would have never been able to do it 5 months ago.

Coolest thing was I was on the beach drying off after and overheard a woman telling her husband and mom and dad that she was thinking about getting WLS (band). The dad had a pretty negative reaction (it doesn't work, people gain the weight back, etc.). I thought she might be open to some outside support, so I said I couldn't help but hear your conversation (I was sitting right next to them!) and just wanted to let you know there are lots of us having successful experiences with the vertical sleeve. They asked a bunch of questions (they had never heard of the sleeve) and then thanked me when I had to go. I am very private about my surgery and other medical conditions (my husband and my brother and sister are the only ones that know), so it was nice to be able to share with someone and maybe help them out in their journey.

How fun ! Tell us more about paddleboarding.

It's where you stand on a large surf board and paddle with a long kayak type oar. It works your core, arms, and shoulders. Here's more info: http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/paddleboarding.html

I ran for the first time on my new treadmill and it seems like I got tired a lot faster than running outside. Do I need to build up my endurance again? Anyone switch from 100% outside to treadmill have any experience to share? Maybe it was because I ran later in the day? Maybe it's because I can adjust my speed easier and slow down when I'm tired when I run outside.

Overall though, I really enjoyed running in the AC. I love that I can glance down and see how fast I'm going. The new (new to me, barely used bought on Craigslist) treadmill is a NordicTrac x9i. Can't wait to try out all the features!

I would not think you need to build up endurance if you transition from running outside to treadmill because often times a small incline of 1-3% must be added for running on the treadmill to equal running outside. From personal experience, I usually find it harder to run on paved surfaces than on my treadmill. The most I have run outside is 15 miles where the most I have run on my treadmill is 12 miles in a single session. Happy treadmill running! I bet you will have fun with all the programs.

Good job Laura. Walking is great exercise! Plus you can catch on some missed episodes from your favorite tv shows or watch a movie.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
