soda fix

Recommended Posts

I tried searching this but did not find anything.

Has anyone tried to make popsicles out of their favorite soda to get their soda fix?

I have read that the carbonation escapes during the freezing process.

I'm only 5 days out and the only thing I have been craving is a big ole glass of ice cold soda. (Diet soda of course)

I don't plan on doing this right now, but if I can at least know that it is something I can do, the craving might lessen.

Any thoughts??

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'm not asking anyone to decide for me, just wondering if it even works or if anyone knows about the carbonation.

Wish I could help, but I gave up soda. Just didn't seem worth all the trouble. If you find out, or try it, post here. There's a lot people that would love to know the answer.

Hey if the carbonation a gone go for it. It's all about moderation though. So don't become a soda Popsicle mega eater!

I gave it up too, awhile ago, but for some reason I just keep thinking about it. Believe me I'm not doing anything against the rules, but some one suggested it to me today so I just thought I'd ask. I will ask at my one week Dr visit and let you know what the doc says about it. Even if it's something that I can't do for months that's fine at least I'll know, right.

I haven't had an actual soda since my band has been put in the whole carbonation part scares me but I know what I mean about the craving part sometimes when I absolutely crave it I I go get a small slurpee the coke flavored but that is when I am reaching my breaking point I dunno how it would effect the sleeve getting sleeved tomorrow

The main reason I drank diet soda was for the carbonation. Soda has absolutely no appeal to me minus the carbonation, but I am interested to hear how the Popsicle taste. :)

You might leave the pop out in a glass over night, then freeze it, idk if freezing does get out the carbonation but i know that leaving it out will. I misunderstood, i thought you were asking if it was ok to do, not if it worked :-)

I'm still not sure about the carbonation so i'm not ready to try it yet.

Ok,

Made and they are not good. I put to my lips and I feel a little zing, so I think it has something to do with carbonation. Also it's like most of the flavour is gone too and it virtually tastes just like Water in sections. I'm goin to try again with flat lemonade and see how it goes

If you are not still in the healing stages, you might try one of these.

I love them. It is flavored sparkling Water. The carbonation is very light. They are a bit expensive IMO at $5/six pack or $1 each at Walmart. But a couple a week shouldn't break the bank.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
