okay...I didn't mean to get your hopes all up, but Lane Bryant has a new sizing system for their jeans. The have 3 different body types/color and they measure your thighs and waist and prescribe the right fitting jeans. They've changed the sizes from 1-9 I think. I'm a 6 red...I almost howled with laughter when the lady handed them to me in the dressing room. This is such a sneaky way to sell more jeans to us big ladies and make us feel better! You can look at their website to find out more. There no way in H!*% that I'd ever be a real 6. Even at goal weight!!!!

They really do fit well, by the way!

Lo2us, that's too cute, but it's makes me feel good to say, "these are a size 6". No one has to know that I bought them from LB. :)

Hippmom, I like your ticker, too. Does that turtle has a firecracker on his back?

TP, keep us informed after the surgery and don't forget your friend, the heating pad. LOL

Lisa, you are nice and if anyone disagrees with "us", I'll beat them up for you cause I haven't lost as much, so I'm still a "heavy weight". LOL:bandit

I stress ate. I can't now...I can't even imagine the pain and suffereing if I did. I already have a hard enough time with normal eating. I tried to stress eat a couple of weeks ago by eating Teddy grahams...thinking I'd eat a while personal size bag of them...didn't work!

I clean my house, walk, do laundry now when I feel that urge coming on.

Stress eating is the pitts, I know that~ guess it would be better to clean house or really nosedive in this computer at work!

My daughter is 28 and near your age. She wants to get banded and I agree, it's probably the best thing for her. I see her esteem going down. I was afraid she was too young and that she would miss out on too many of the pleasures in life (concerning food). I know, there's a whole lot more to life, than food. At her age, seems like everything centers around social gatherings and food. But after seeing so many young women here on line that are really happy and have no regrets about doing the band, I feel more assured that it's right for her too.

Do you have any regrets, or has it been long enough?

Hi everyone!

Susan, how's the knee? Have you gone to the dr.? Sounds like we might need to amputate. I have a big ole cedar tree that we need to cut down, might make a good wooden leg. ARGGGGG!! lol Sorry. Really, are you doing ok?

Julie, my only regret is I wish I had my band when I was younger. I yo-yo dieted all my adult life. Your daughter would learn to adjust as we all have. I don't know at the church meetings that I have gone to since I got my band. And you know how they are...... good food everywhere. You just have to be strong willed. I think it's ok to have a taste now and then just don't eat the whole thing! lol

Yall have a good day!

I have no regrets except like Lisa, I wish I had done this at 18. I wouldn't have been brave enough then, but boy would life have been different! Life is already much more enjoyable than it was back in May. I feel SO good and I can finally keep up with my soon to be 3 year old. I'm happier too because I finally have some resolve that I've done my absolute best to deal with this weight problem I've hadn my entire life.

I know too, that if I want to have another baby, there will be less risks since I'm off b/p meds now and I'm getting lighter. I was self pay, but it's been worth it even if I don't lose a pound more.

I will say that this is not something that ANYONE should take lightly. You HAVE to have your head on straight to deal with it at times. I have had a rough couple of weeks after this last fill, and it's been hard to not be upset at times when I can only maybe three bites of food a day because for restriction. Especially since I'm a stress eater. My mother is trying to push my borther into having lapband, but I told him not to do it uless he realizes that almost ever aspect of his life and outlook is about to change permanetly.

Sorry to write a book. But this has been an issue at our house lately!

Please excuse all those typos.

On a lighter note...almost every person I work with who has seen my in my size 6's today has given me a compliement about how good I look. This has been the most rewarding day yet since surgery! People can tell!

Go, Shannon, go!!! Hurray for size red 6!!!!!!

I agree about the life altering decision thing. You have to be commited to the band for life. You have to be determined to make it work for you thru hard times and good. You have to have your head set BEFORE you get the band to make it work. COMMITMENT, in a nutshell. And if you make a mistake one day, just start over the next. Everyone goofs up. Just don't beat yourself up over it. Start over tomorrow. I had a hard time with that in the beginning. But I have learned to accept it.

Woohoo...I'll finally get that 1st pin on Monday!!

Here's a question though. Have any of y'all heard either doc define the "Sweet Spot" in terms of what you can/can't eat? I'm finding after 3-4 bites of each meal, I'm full...not to mention I slime if I eat more too. I am not eating the 3oz of meat per meal at all. I am taking th eprotein religiously though.

I've heard them say it's where you're losing about 2lbs a week, but nothing to the effect of what you're eating.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
