Good morning All,

Lo2us, I'm no expert, but I would call cause the office will be closed Monday (Labor Day). Maybe you need some taken out or at least they could maybe get you in today.

Sugarbear, I hope that things are going well for you today. We do have "our" days, but I think it helps just to tell someone how you feel. We all do care and I hope that we all do pray for "our band buddies". I know things get hard, but I think that God left him here for a reason. I have a cousin and her son passed away in 94 and she grieves daily for him.

THJ, my sister (died in 95)left with some unresolved issues that caused her children to be at "odds" with me, but I have forgiven them (and her). I made "lemonade" with the lemons. I might not ever find out all the "reasons" and "what if's", but I knew that I had to forgive and move on. Glad you are as well.

TP, I bought the 1000mg, I couldn't find the 5000mg (I wanted those), so I cut mine into and swallow half, then the other half. I also take it with a meal.

Lisa, how is your day?

Lo2us, might better call em. Wouldn't hurt. They may cut you back to mushies or liquids for a day or two. My band has never been as tight as yours, even with 4 fills. I guess mine is just going to be difficult. This works for nearly everyone, I think I may falling into the other category. I will talk to Dr. K about it when I see her on the 10th. Take care. I wanted this to go smoother for you. Look at that ticker go! I may not even recognize you at the next meeting! How's little Gus doing? Anymore successes on the potty?

Shannon, it wouldn't hurt to call. You know this is a holiday weekend. But, you are right, it's nice to see all those smaller sizes! Way to go!

Teresa, that's the one I got. I don't have to open mine and it hasn't gotten stuck. You know what size they are. I think they go down like something going down the drain. lol They flip up on one end and slip thru the stoma.

Sharon, hang in there. I hope today is better. Give it to God, he will comfort. He tells us that. If you need to talk, you know where to go, k?

Fine Glo, thanks for asking. I don't take my Biotin with a meal. I take them in the morning when I take my BP meds. (that I hope to be off of really, really soon.)

I also went to GNC this morning and got some papaya enzyme. I ate one just to see how it tasted. Not all that bad. I got the 90 tab bottle. (I don't wanna have to take them very often. lol) for 2.99. Cheap enough, I reckon.

Shannon, I think the over all vote is to call the office, so...... what are you waiting for? Let us know what they say, k?

Sorry if this posts twice. Something is goofed up

Lisa, I bought me some papaya enyzmes tablets (chewable), too. I haven't had a problem yet (except for the time that "boiled egg" just sat on my chest). :) and I guess I was so afraid I forgot to use them. Do you think the 1000mg of Biotin will be enough? My hair is not thinning or anything, but it still won't hurt to use it. I'll have beautiful nails and hair. LOL

LO2us, how are you feeling?

Glo, I guess it will be. I don't know what the RDA is on it. I don't think the FDA has one either. I was using the 1000mcg before. I just ran out and bought my first bottle or 5000mcg because Wally world didn't have the other. It's Water soluble, so you absorb what you need and the rest goes out with the water. Know what I mean? lol

Yall have a good holiday weekend.

Susan, I'm not even going to comment on that one. I'll tell you one just about as bad. I fell off the porch just before I got my band and stabbed a pc of underpinning up into my armpit. Don't that make for a pretty picture in your mind.

Hope you feel better soon. If you need anything, I'm just a phone call away.

Yay, Susan! Made you feel better, didn't it?

Good morning everyone. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

It seems that stress has a lot to do with the restriction of your band. Or it does mine. I have had a lot going on this past two weeks and I have had major restriction. I can't eat more than 2 or three bites at a time without having problems. Glad I got some of the papaya enzyme. THANKS Shannon! Mushies seem to go down pretty well, but solid food is another story. So, I'm either at my sweet spot or just nearly there. I know one thing......yall don't get stressed out. lol

Well, this starts another week. Our first football game is Saturday. Valiant OK, if anyone is interested (Genia) Second week of school. Things are looking bright this year. T really likes his teacher, so that is good news.

lo2us, how do you feel this morning? Did you call the office? I haven't been on this weekend, but I thought about you. Hope things are better for you today.

Yall have a good day, k?

Julie, some people's hair does thin. Sometimes, it's from the anesthesia, sometimes it's from your diet. Sometimes, it's just stress!!! The docs aren't kidding about the Protein intake. You have to get at least that much (40 to 60 grams) daily. Mine has thinned and it's from all the above reasons, but I still have a lot of hair. My genetics are another reason for my thin hair. But..... there are a variety of ways to get protein. There are the little vials that are sold on the noscales site, Protein Drinks, and the Protienex that is sold at the pharmacies. So, don't fret.... you can do this. You just have to adjust your lifestyle to include these things if you can't get enought in your diet. See..... problem solved. lol

I'm doing okay. I struggled slightly yesterday. I'm going to wait until the end of this week and see if my band gets any looser since it was the and of week 3 after the 1st fill that I was able to eat again. I'm only taking in 2 or 3 bites at a time too. liquids are going down more easily the past couple of days. If I'm still frustraited at the end of this week, I will call on Friday.

My hair is not really falling out, it's just broke off. I had a haircut this weekend to remedey it. I learned that since I have naturally kinky/curly, very dry hair, that I may have been hurting it by washing it so much. My hairdresser told me to wet it and condition it every night, but only Shampoo 2 times a week. I can tell a HUGE difference from trying this a few days! Remind me to tell y'all about my new size 6 jeans tomorrow. It's a hoot!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
