Lisa G. 4 Posted May 9, 2007 Morning everyone! Priss, I thought I was going to starve to death in bandster hell. It's normal until you get a fill to get restriction. My first 2 fills didn't do much good, so hang in there, k? Hey Susan, How's things in your garden? Christi, welcome aboard! Don't be shy. If you have questions, ask. We will try to help in anyway we can. Vylnn, How's Billy? How's vylnn holding up? Yall have a good day. We have 'field days' starting today and I will be at school. Man, I thought I was thru with school!! lisa
Lisa G. 4 Posted May 9, 2007 One more thing, Priss. When you get hungry, drink Water and get busy. It will help. lisa
hopefulchurch 0 Posted May 9, 2007 I just wanted to share my experience with my first fill. I just got it last Thursday and I have had good restriction since then, maybe too much. I am still having to be careful with the solids I eat. I know everyone is different but it is kind of nice not having work so hard not to eat too much. My stomach has growled a time or two but I'll tell you this, I wouldn't dare overeat....it just isn't possible right now. Everyone, have a good Wednesday. Lisa G. 4 Posted May 9, 2007 That's really cool, Paula. I'm glad you have restriction. I finally know what you mean by not overeating. I couldn't if I wanted too. Christi, who's doing your surgery? Having band placement really is a life changing event, but I don't regret it one bit. I feel like I finally have control over what I eat and how much. Don't worry too much about the needle thing. It's like Priss said, I also got stuck twice. Once for the pre-op lab and once for the IV. If you are having your surgery at Wadley, the nurses in the Day Surgery Department are really nice and very proficient. They will put you at ease very quickly. The anesthesiologists are also very good and will do everything possible to assure you that everything is cool. After you get your IV, all your meds will be injected thru it, so there isn't any unnecessary needle sticks. After the surgery, you aren't allowed to pick up anything over 10 pounds because the port is sutured to one of the abdominal muscles. If you were to accidently pull one of those sutures loose, you could risk a flipped port. That would make it kinda hard for fills. It's possible to get a fill with a flipped port, but I have read that it's hard to do and most are done by flouroscope. I don't want to scare you , but since you ask about the lifting..... lisa
Cmoomoos 0 Posted May 9, 2007 I am having my surgery done by Dr. Hekier and Keilin. I have only seen her though. Has having the band help with some of the health problems that ya'll have that is if you had any. I know that my orthopedic specialist recommended I have this done for my back plus I do have a few minor issues to. I am nervous about this but then I am also excited just because I know the band is a tool that is to help me acheive a goal and have a new perspective on myself and my lifestyle. Finding this forum and talking with ya'll I think has answered a questions and will help me throughout this whole process. Thanks!!
lo2us 1 Posted May 9, 2007 Okay, here's another one of my dumb questions and I think I already know the answer...Do they provided those lovely stockings or should I go out and try to find some hippo sized ones before hand? I'm planning on wearing shorts with them so I can embarrass my hubby I'm sure I might be mistaken for a basketball star with them and some snazzy high top sneakers! HA! Vlynn, how are you doing? How's Mr. Vlynn? Welcome, Cmoomoo! I'll be banded 2 days before you! I reckon Dr. Hekier is doing mine??? That's who I saw last week to do my pre-op stuff. vlynnfogg 3 Posted May 9, 2007 Hello all...Billy is doing fine...Thanks for thinking about him... I am doing fine...haven't lost in a few weeks, which gets discouraging, but I know it's because I haven't worked as hard as I was...seems like life has gotten so busy that I can't keep myself in check like I need to (exercise, drinking the Water, etc...)...I find myself forgetting to drink, and then with the rain, I haven't been able to walk like I need to either...I hope during summer break, I can get back into a good routine and do better...I am also needing that fill that I chose not to get last time...I am getting hungry quite often... It has been harder at school this week...It is Teacher Appreciation Week and some of the parents are bringing up all this good food each day for the teachers to snack and eat for lunch...such a weakness of mine is eating buffet style anywhere...I want a little of everything...and, by the time you get a spoon of this and that, there is way too much...so hard to deal with... I WILL SURVIVE!!!!! LOL:nervous
lo2us 1 Posted May 9, 2007 I wonder how blondylocks her pregnancy are doing?
Lisa G. 4 Posted May 9, 2007 Shannon, you don't have to supply your own stockings. You will get them before surgery. I think red high tops will be the prettiest. lol Christi, I have been able to stop taking 4 of the 5 meds I was on before surgery. the dose on the last one has been cut in half. So, there are other benefits to the surgery. Stay with us. I know I joke around alot, but I really take this very seriously and everyone on here has helped me with my hard times. Thanks Yall!! Vylnn, glad to hear Billy is doing ok. You hang in there and things will get better. Just think about how skinny you will be when school starts next year and you won't want all those goodies. See yall lisa
