Texarkana Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone...just taking a few minutes out of class time to check in with you...

Although I may not make many responses, I do read everything, so I am still keeping up with you guys...

Love seeing all of you doing so well...

Billy and I went for a checkup on Monday...we are at a point now that EXERCISE is our only hope to keep losing...DRATS!!! Was hoping I could be one of those rare occasions that exercise wouldn't matter...guess not...so I guess I am going to have to step up the ol' routine a bit and get out and do more walking...I don't mind the walking...love to walk...but it's the strength training I don't do well with...hate lifting weights...you'd think as long as I carried WEIGHT, it wouldn't be hard...hahahah

Anyway...so that is my challenge...MORE EXERCISE!!!

Billy, of course, is still doing good...enough to make you want to strangle him...it seems he doesn't have to try very hard...

My sister is a 2-week bandster...doing great...has lost about 25 lbs already...I am so proud that she is going to get thin...

Well, better get back to my kiddos' and make sure they are working...having a track meet today, so I am actually babysitting the non-tracksters...not hard

Something I am dealing with right now is the idea that if I let any of my band out, I might gain my weight back...I had to get a little taken out my last visit because I was too tight, couldn't eat even Soup without it getting stuck...I have gained 3 lbs back and it really worries me that maybe I should get another fill...I struggled last week on deciding whether to get one or not...I didn't, going to try the more exercise route...even though, I know that 3 lbs is not a lot, it still makes me nervous the thought of gaining, just because I don't want to lose control...hope that makes sense...I guess I think of being tighter as my security blanket, no matter how miserable it may make me...Dr. H. says that people who have lost their weight in short periods usually find themselves still struggling with this as much as two years after banding...He says it may take that long for your mind to get in that frame that this is lifestyle rather than thinking of it as dieting...hope this makes sense and I'm not just rambling...Any suggestions...

Take care, and until I post again, God Bless...

Hi Ali. I am a little ahead of you. I am having surgery Wednesday the 14th. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I go tomorrow and sign my consents and get all of my info I guess. I think I am going to choose to have it done at the surgery center. A lady I work with had it done there last week and had a good outcome. I have one question for you guys. I have been reading these posts for awhile now and don't know what "TOM" is. Doesn't sound too exciting the way you put it though..lol Any body have any words of wisdom for me? I could use some about now... Thanks all....

Hey I was just reading some other posts and was wondering if anybody can tell me if Dr K and Dr H use the "realize" band? I didn't know there was more than one until a few minutes ago, but everybody seems so happy with it. Just curious....:cursing:

I think I still do. I'll look and see. I believe it went something like Clear Liquids for a week, then creamy liquids for a week, mushies for like 2 weeks, then soft foods for a week. I think it times out that you should be starting on real foods right before you go in for your first fill (about six weeks post op). That's how it went for me. Perhaps others have a more detailed memory?

Hi yall. Still waiting......

I think my band was working overtime yesterday. I had horrible day. And my band was so tight. I had some chicken for supper last night and I wished I hadn't eaten at all. It just sat there. I think it may have laid an egg too cause the longer it sat there, the heavier it got.

Nerves, stress and otherwise terrible day contributed to that I'm sure. And as you can tell ... Things aren't any better today. But I am gonna get past this..... as soon as people quit messin with me and get my house here!!!!! Long story and I won't bore everyone. But the Readers Digest version.... my house won't be here this week.

Yall take care and stay in your box. (Even if it is rotten, Susan) Drink your Water too.

(Perky..... TOM --time of the month)

dont forget to get sugar free popsicles.. they are the best preop and post op !!!

Sorry Lisa ! I had a bad day too yesterday, got stranded in the middle of

no where JUST AFTER I slimed all over myself in the car. I am too tight and keep pushing it.. gonna let it rest a day or two. I promised myself this time I wouldnt let the swelling get me down. I have lost a couple of pounds this week, so it isnt all bad.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY Ya' ll !

I know this is gross, but I keep empty butter dishes and yogurt containers in my car with some paper towels just in case the slime sneaks up on me. It's saved me twice now!

Nothing too interesting going on here. I had a week from hell, and looking to have another....then maybe peace will come back into my life! Lisa, stress squeezes your band too...I hate that side effect the most!

I thought I was sliming in a paper bag LOL. I guess I missed !!! I will have to try that, plastic bowls. I have Walmart bags in my car. It had been a very stressful day. I would kill for a fried bologna and cheese sandwich right now.

I keep telling myself.. let the swelling go down. Easier to stay in the box right now though. Hope everyone has a better week next week. !!!

I have to remember the meeting monday night ! Yall come if you can.

Good morning everyone.

I have done a little experiment. For several days last week, I made it a point to drink as much Water as I possibly could hold. ( at least the 64 we are told to drink and then some) During that time, I lost weight. Three pounds. Now this weekend I was busy with things and didn't drink the water I was supposed to and I gained those three pounds back. Very interesting don't you think? And I also figured out that my band is not as tight when I drink lots of water. (Except for the very stressful days) So...... I conclude......(lol) drink water......lots of it........as much as you can stand.

Teresa, I know what you mean about sliming in the car. I have some Wal Mart bags too. Most of the time, I just pull over and take care of it. I know, gross, but sometimes it's just best too.

Yall have a good day. I don't know what's in store for my day yet. I hope it's not as bad as Thursday.

Drink your water and stay in your little box!

Today is day 4 of my liquid diet and yeah i get a salad tonight! I've done well so far. I'm not going crazy hungry. I think it also has something to do with my thyroid was way out of whack and my dr. upped my dosage last week. I feel like that has definately helped with my hunger. That came at the right time! I'd like to come to the meeting tonight. Is it in the same room as the seminar was?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
