Hello all. Just had a weird thing happen. I was posting and it just disapeared? What's with that? Been working with hubby this week. He has been extremely short-handed.

Mizboo, I am not sure I know who you are. Approach me at our meeting. I know you live in or around Hope, from your posts. Yes, I am ajusting as well as I can. I guess you know me though. I will be glad when I can get around myself. He still won't let me bear any weight on it. I go back Thurs for another cast. Hoping he will let me limp on it. I haven't been able to stand any pressure on it anyway. Can you believe it has been over 3 weeks since I have even driven!? I guess the next meeting is the 8th. I plan on being there. My husband did not have the surgery. I am going to encouraging him when I get mine paid for, or at least paid down. I am working on that. I hope I have success with this for him to see. I am just so slow. I fot a fill last Tues. I am beginning to feel it some now. I love to eat at Amigo Juans. But shouldn't.

I am hoping next week will be a turning point with my leg/ankle, pain wise and healing wise. It will be 4 weeks Wed.

Take care everyone!

hello everyone. I am addicted to the scales but it finally paid off. I lost 3 more pounds. I have been walking everyday and trying real hard to do the 1/2 cup of food. I still want to eat when I am not hungry, I guess there is NO magic for that. I hope to see some of you at the meeting in texarkana. Do we say our name to everyone? If we do, then you will know me for sure. Love to read your post. Cant wait for my first fill, just want to get that part over with even if it doesnt restrict the first time. I am starting to lose interest in food so something is working right. :clap2:

That's good Teresa. Could be from eating right too. I think my nails are getting harder again.

I am beginning to think I might be just a little too tight. Not that I'm complaining. I just can't eat more that a couple of bites before "the end" sign. I guess I can live on Slime fast for a couple of weeks until it gets looser. I cheated this afternoon. I had some plain ole everyday high calorie blue bell ice cream. I loved every bite. Which wasn't very many, believe me. lol

Hope everyone has a good week. Sugarbear, be careful. Don't do too much, k?

later yall!

Hi everyone, I have a date of 10-10-07 at Texarkana. I have started on slimfast, getting used to its taste.I was afraid I would be starving but so far I'm not.I do have problems of waking up at night hungry. I keep jell-o and when the feeling hits I just grab a couple of bites.

My starting weight is 234. My goal is 130.

What happens if you don't lose as much weight as they want you to before surgery?

Hello Arkie, welcome. I think the thing about pre-op surgery is not so much the weight you lose, it's about the liver shrinkage. It's great to lose weight when you are on the pre-op diet, makes you feel better. But in order to get the band around the stomach, the liver needs to be shrunk back away from the stomach just a bit. One thing the docs don't want to do is to bruise or upset it. (might cause complications.) I started pretty close to your start weight (224) and I didn't lose but about 8 pounds. Start walking and exercising now and you will lose faster. Hang in there... you can do it. All of us on the board that have had surgery were sucessful in it. We know how hard it is, so if you need any support, please feel free to ask questions, whine or anything else you need to do. lol That's what we're here for.

Yall have a good day today and stay in the box! (you too, Susan) :)

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the site Arkie! Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good. This great weather has done a wonderful job of lifting our spirits.

I finally did get a call from the office and they told me Betty would be working on my file this weekend and would let me know where I'm at in the process.

I am surprised that some of you talk about all the things you ate that you shouldn't have. What surprises me is, I didn't think things like barbecue and bread would even go thru the opening. What about salad?

Can you eat it?

Also, is sipping Water only in the beginning? I have 3 small pills to take every morning and a sip of water won't be enough.

Good morning everyone,

Glad to read everyone had a good weekend.

I went to Baton Rouge to see my daughter graduate. I am so proud of her. She will start again in December for her Master's now. Sorry Lisa, I didn't stay in my box. I don't think I was anywhere near it. LOL

I don't think I gained, but I KNOW I didn't lose. LOL

I am back on track now.

Welcome, Arkie!!!!!!

Julie, did you call the ins yourself? Betty told me that I could them and I guess that I bothered them so much, they approved me. LOL

I'm sure that they were going to anyway, I just speeded things up. I called EVERYDAY, and when the lady told me, I called Betty and she gave me a surgery date. Wishing you much blessings.

Ouch!!! 3 years of waiting!!!!?? For the premiums I have to pay out, I better not have to wait that long!

Congratulations Gloharmar on your daughters graduation!:clap2: What is she getting a Masters in? I would love to go to school again and get a degree in "something". I'm 54 and have a full time job, plus a part time job, and then I have horses to tend to, grandchildren to play with, and a son that practically lives at my house during hunting season!:) My life is pretty full but part of me would still like to go for that degree.

I have been a pest with my insurance, but they've pretty much told me the rest is up to the Dr's report as to "why" I need the banding. They say "IF" they approve it, I only have to pay 10%, which is a great relief.

I'm planning on going to the meeting on the 8th. Is it at Wadley?

I am a redhead, say hello if you see me!:(

Julie, Tiffani rec'd a B.S. with a certification in Human Resources and I had to just call her to ask what was the masters in. LOL, It will be Business Administration. She laughs everytime I ask and says "listen, old lady, it's such and such". I'm so proud that it could be anything. LOL

Gosh, I might have to wait for the ins with 10%. Keep the faith and I feel confident that you will meet all the requirements. Yes, I know about the full/parttime jobs. My husband and I have those too. My daughter wants me to go back to school, but I already know everything (LOL) so my grandbabies think. I don't know what I'd like to do. At 55, I'm tired, I just want to retire, travel, get up when I want and shop. Sorry to be a "chatty cathy". But I'm proud of her. I go to the meetings in Mt. Pleasant, but maybe one day we will meet at the office. I have my 2nd fill Oct. 23rd. Keep the faith.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
