Hi Glo. Bend over....you get 5 lashes with a wet noodle!!! If you are going to cheat, at least cheat with a MUSHIE! Now, that your beating and scolding is over, LOL, just start where you left off. We all make mistakes, so just let it go and try to be good til Fri. You will be fine. We didn't get this way over night. We all have eating habit that we are trying to mend. It is very hard, after all we have had them most of our lives. Mine is Portion Control. On top of that, until you reach proper restriction, it is extra hard when you are HUNGRY.

Lo2us, how is the food going down today? Hope it's better. Less than a half cup, for a few days maybe, but it would sure be hard to get the caloric intake you need, not counting the nutrition. What did he say about you being too tired? I forgot to ask. Sugest any blood work? Might get that from your pcp, even if you don't seem him, just blood work. Take care.

Lisa, you and Susan behavin? Susan, Fri. is almost here.

Thanks, Surgarbear, I could almost cry cause I did the right things up til 3 days before I could eat soft scrambled eggs. Darn boiled egg. LOL

And get this, the thing feels like it's still hanging around in my throat. I have the enzyme complete but I didn't know if I could take it now cause I haven't had the 2wk checkup. Believe me when I go tomorrow (ck-up) I'm taking them with me and if Dr. K say's to take it-it's a done deal. chew-chew will be me. Again thanks!!!!!!

I last logged and posted on 8/19. It's now the 22nd and I've been up and down. Wha? 3-4 days ago???

First, Thanks for all the replies and inquiries. Y'all are really sweet.

I haven't been to my office since surgery but I did for 20 min today as I've had pain and been really weak. Thank God for the Jug of Lortab!

I'll try to post more and be more observant when the hydrocodone haze wears off...

Thanks again, THJ

Hi everyone and WELCOME to all the new people!! We are getting really a really big "cast" of people. I say the more the merrier!

THJ, glad you are doing better. Stay with it. I know you can to it.

Glo?......shame, shame. Learned a very important lesson, didn't you? That's all I'm gonna say. lol

Shannon, hope everything is well with you. Sorry bout the last 5 pounds, but you will lose it soon. You are doing so well, it won't be long.

Sharon, I promise I have been behavin'. Came thru Hope yesterday. Thought about you. Wish we had time to stop and see ya. We were tired and ready to get home. Maybe we can visit sometime at the office.

Well, I won't go into details, but I wanted to up-date everyone. Got a call Monday morning.... M I L had emergency surgery monday afternoon. Randy's cell phone was stolen monday morning. We went to Branson Monday afternoon. Tuesday was a blurr, came home yesterday afternoon. Hospice has been called for his mom. Prognosis -- not good. The doctors aren't giving much hope. Not even a time. We think 2 maybe 3 months. That's being optimistic. She weighed 76 pounds!!!! I'm sorry to bring everyone down. I won't say anymore.

Yall have a good day and tell everyone that matters to you that you love them.

lisa

Lisa - I am so sorry. Let us know if we can do anything.

THJ - Hang in there!

I had an okay day yesterday with this new fill. I did have mashed potatoes and soft roast beef for lunch. Got home made pot roast and couldn't eat more than 3 bites. I had a carnation instant Breakfast when I finished sliming. Again, I think I'm eating too fast. Gonna practice Lisa's sit and look at your food mantra again. I think I'm going to have to sip something hot before meals every time I get a fill for the first couple of weeks. I think that's why lunch went well yesterday, I drank coffe all morning.

I did break over and order the nectar (pixie stick/juice) Protein supplement and some Biotin from the noscales site yesterday... just in case I am to only have a few bites at a time. I've already lost a 1 lb from Monday, almost 2. I'm getting full just from drinking Water too.

Didn't mean to be lon winded.

Good afternoon all,

Yep, Hippmom, Lou and I are here and waiting for the lil darlings, Monday. LOL

Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law, Lisa. Our prayers are with you and your family.

THJ, believe me, two weeks ago, I was where you are and it does get better.

Everyone, I had my 2wk ck-up today and I really like Dr. K. She is soooo full of energy. As of 6/4/07 I have lost 24 lbs. :whoo:I think this was the best decision I have made in a very long time.:)

I will have my first fill the day after "Labor Day".

Lo2us, thanks for the infor about the "pot roast", I think I'll skip it all together. LOL

Thanks yall. All prayers for her will be greatly appreciated.

Glo, go back and do what you did before and just fill in the blanks at the bottom. The difference will make that slipper move. It just might dance a long way! My dawg needs to get up and move over some more. Maybe, I'll just fix it now. :)

Sorry I missed the meeting this month. It sounded really interesting. But, it couldn't be helped. Maybe, I can get a refresher course from Mrs. Betty. Ya think?

Hi Lisa. We were worried about you. I thought yesterday something may have gone haywire with MIL. So sorry. Tell your husband we will keep him and family in our prayers. When hospice is called in, the time is probably not too long. Will she return to her home?

Wannabethin, Lisa and I were wondering about you too. From 270 to 207! WOW! That is 63 pounds! You have done wonderful! How many fills have you had? You need a ticker with a race car on it.

Tpagern. The info I gave you was from my sheet 6 mos. ago about the post-op diet. So it could have changed some. Gloharmar is on the post-op diet, she might give you a better update. I doubt it changed a whole lot though. How bout that Glo...has the post-op diet changed much from what I posted above? By-the-way, you are doing great. Keep it up! What did Dr. K say about the enzyme?

Genia.....just where have you been? I'm so glad to see you post. Thought you had gotten so thin that the Oklahoma wind blew you away! 63 pounds? That is so cool! Mine is starting to move again. Don't tell. It might skeer it.

Sugarbear, MIL will be going home with Randy's sister. She lives close and it will be easier for her to get there rather than home. All those hills and curves to her house might be a very hard trip for her. Like I said, they didn't give us an approx. time frame, but we think it will probably be less than 3 months. It's attached itself to her liver now. But, I know yall don't wanna be in on all the details. But thank you for the prayers. The family needs it more than you know.

No,Sugarbear, you were correct about the post-op diet. So THJ, do like the list says. I was doing the happy dance so that I forgot to ask about the enzyme. Mine you, I had it in my lil lunch box (I carry it everywhere I go). Y'all that egg stayed until late in the evening and I did tell Dr. K what I did, well she was so nice (but firm about the chewing, healing stomach, and mushies) that I thought she was Mother Teresa's relative. LOL. I told her that I watched Big Medicine ( TLC channel, Monday nights)and she said that she went to school with Dr. Garth Davis (Houston, Tx). Like I said she is sooo nice. THJ, who did your surgery?

Dr. H will be giving me my fill. I haven't met him yet, but I'm sure he's just as nice. LisaG, I was really looking forward meeting you, but I hope I will in October and if you want to talk about your MIL, do so cause I think that we all agree that we have big shoulders and ears to listen. We never know when we will need your ears and shoulders. Be blessed.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
