Thanks lo2us and sugarbear!

Abatts i was banded june 20th too. I was third in line i think. Where was you in the line up?

Lindata, i have had no trouble with Dr. Hekier or Dr. Keilin. I really like them and all the people at their office. Talk to Betty there, she is very helpfull and nice.

I was 1st in line. I have really enjoyed Hekier and Keilin as well.

Lindata...I have really enjoyed Hekier and Keilin. There is nothing negative I can say. I caught a little bit of a bug about a week and half after surgery. I called the office in the middle of the night worried I might get sick. Hekier called back in 5 minutes and told me what to do...then he called back around 8 the next morning to check in on me and see how I was feeling. They are by far the most supportive staff I have ever been around. I highly recommend them to everyone considering this surgery. I don't think you will find two better doctors and a more supportive staff anywhere.

Hi everyone. Hope all is well with everyone.

Lindata, welcome. I know...... 50 pages is a lot. Go to the Doctors website, it will help with information. (noscales.com) I haven't had a problem with either doctor. I think the world of both of them. Their staff is the best. I think everyone on this thread thinks the same. I don't know of anyone that have used them think otherwise. The decision to have the procedure is ultimately up to you. You are the only person that is able to make it. I don't know how long you have been researching, but the more information you have will help in making the decision. I speak for myself, I would not change a thing. I am losing slower than some, but at least I'm losing. Sure, I could have lost it on my own, but keeping it off is the key to good health and that's what I'm after. So, If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, k?

Abatts, welcome also. You are doing great, keep up the good work. And don't be a stranger. We are all in this together and if we can help........

Sunlight, I can not eat bread. Toasted or otherwise. Strange, I can have crackers, but no bread. It's like Sugarbear said, everyone is different. I got brave enough to try some rice last nite. Made me hurt, so I guess I can't have it. I don't need it anyway. I made a new dish for the man of the house and I just wanted to taste it anyway. You know how it is, if you cook, you gotta taste. lol

lo2us, remember..... relax. I promise I wasn't kidding yesterday when I said when you tense up, it makes your skin tighten. It makes it harder for the needle to slip thru. But I know you will be ok. Let us know how things go. I am ready for a fill myself. I not thinking "tweak" anymore. I want the whole fill. lol

Yall have a good day!

Right now you are still healing so don't worry too much about the weight. Easy said, huh? We all worry about it... No kidding, you need to get proper nutrition and exercise, everything will fall into place soon. You have the hardest part behind you. Thank Goodness! Welcome to Bandland, just ask if there is anything we can help with. The people on here are great support for you.

Just letting everyone know that we are meeting at Bryces Cafeteria for lunch on Thurs. July 19th, 11:30 a.m. (Texarkana, TX). All are welcome, even if you are just researching the procedure and would like to join us, ask questions, or whatever. We certainly aren't doctors, and won't act like one, but we have had many experiences we can share as bandsters. Hope several can make it. I will try to be there early and catch you as you come in. Guess I could hold a sign or a balloon or something. I only know who two of you are. If some are late I will have to figure out how you will recognize our table. If I get a head count before Thurs. I will also try to get a table large enough to accomodate us. I'll post a reminder again next week.

I had a rough first fill. Dr. H said he put in 1.5-1.7 cc's. That all went fine...then he gave me the Water to sip and it went down and got stuck. I asked if it should already hurt and he said I should feel something and gave me the cracker and told me to take 5 minutes and eat it. By the time I got into the waiting room, I was hurting and sick to my stomach BAD. I sat there and nibbled on the cracker for 15 minutes and it got worse and worse. The pain was a 7 on a 1-10 scale. I asked the nurse how long I had to wait to quit hurting and they took me back to have a little taken out. I thought I would puke on him while he did it, but as soon as I stood up I felt MUCH better. He said they don't see this on the first fill often, but it happens. He also said that I should lose my weight on less fills. At least now I know what too tight feels like! Othe than that I'm okay, just very FULL!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
